Yep, it is actually for his wife who has a Youtube channel. Should help with the encode speed over her Skylake (or is it Kaby Lake?) laptop. Paired with a 1070 because she uses Premiere Pro, which doesn't depend on the GPU that much. Also I had one I wasn't using.
It's Sky.

So this happened, as they went on sale for black Friday route pricing.

I could try that one day BUT I can't love anything more than MX518!

A Phanteks F200SP, a Silent Wing 4 Pro 140mm , and a USB to 4pin thingy, this time with PD support.

I just can’t stop collecting high-end case fans from Noctua and be quiet and use them as a general purpose fan out of a PC case. Well, because IMO they are most of the time more noise-optimized. …and I’m in fanboy territory for both Noctua and be quiet.

The Phanteks F200SP is the most powerful 20cm fan I can think of. Much more than Noctua A20. ( Of course there is more noise, but about what to expect from a rated 25dBa. A20 is rated at 18.1 dBa at max speed.)

The Silent Wings Pro 4 140mm is…a bit complicated. When I build my current PC I was not satisfied with the 140mm options I had for front intake that I have to use 120mm fans (stock fan was meh, Silent Wings 3 140mm was even more meh, and Noctua A14 resonated, not going for any other brands because fanboy reasons)
Now I have an actually good, utter overkill 140mm option. But Noctua A14x25 is around the corner (2024Q2, and I don’t think they will delay anymore). I may want a iPPC version for even more overkill (and I actually care the color for once), but I don’t think they will do one (A12x25 doesn’t have one after all those years). So probably one A14x25 for collection/“evaluation” purpose, 3 or 4 more SWP4. Yes I know, I just can’t stop wasting money on high-end case fans.
↑was rated 6W, above 5W for normal USB ports, hence the PD thingy. I have lots of non-PD version of that thing.

Ok, quick and dirty comparison of the G502 X Lightspeed to the G502 Lightspeed.

The mouse buttons are very clicky, with a firmer, louder click.
The "skates" makes a lot more sense now and you can still put the radio dongle in the bottom of the mouse.
Weights are gone now and the mouse itself is a lot lighter.
Thumb button has been extended towards the thumb and is a lot easier to reach. Optional, smaller thumb button is supplied.
The side mouse buttons are a tad harder to reach, especially the "back" button.
The new scroll wheel is slipperier and the new pattern doesn't really allow for a better grip, but it's still much better than the all metal wheel some older G502 models used.
You can use "any" USB-C cable for charging, which is a big plus.
Not as "gamer" looking.

It's different enough that it's going to take a while to get used to. And yes, it's already dusty...

Maybe it's just the angle but is it a little wider too?

The right side of it looks to be a bit more flared out.
I have a 502 Lightspeed myself, curious as I actually wouldn't mind this being the case.

Got two boards too. The Z77 board came with a 3770K and I had a Pentium G3258 for the Z97 one. :)

Not in the pic but I got a 2x8GB DDR3 kit as well.

e. Delidded that 3770K as well already. :)

I'm just curious, but why do you want to own really old hardware like this when you already have a RTX 3080 main setup and 6700xt living room setup?

My VR/portable rig is a 6700K with a 1080Ti and I use a 3rd Gen i7 laptop at work because it only has to operate as a terminal. Still perfectly usable hardware.

I'm not going to go out of my way to acquire old hardware, but if I have it and it still functions, I'll give it a task if I don't want to load whatever it is on my gaming rig or personal daily driver. Occasionally I'll have to buy something to add to what I already have to make it functional (different form factor mobo, RAM,etc.).

Ive got a real mix of computers in this house that are in regular use, the following is a rough summary:
i7 10700 GTX1660S
i5 10400 A770
i7 7700 RTX3060
FX6300 R7970
i7 4790 GTX980
i5 2500k onboard (media player)
i5 2320 onboard (media player)

*edit* almost forgot the pc im using now! the kitchen pc 10500T All in One pc with onboard graphics (the most used pc in the house).

There are also a few laptops and some vintage pcs. My point here being any PC can be useable, those listed above all have their uses in this household.

Maybe it's just the angle but is it a little wider too?

The right side of it looks to be a bit more flared out.
