@Yukikaze
nice, still hope you will tape up those areas in rear/top,
especially around the fans, so your not just pulling hot air right back in thru circulation.
The system runs so cool that it really isn't needed. So I'm going to call it done for now. I already have a new (and weird!) project that I am putting together from more spare parts and ebay finds...

One thing I realized is that my NAS box (running a 3570S) has a better CPU cooler than this crappy one. So I swapped them. Now this machine has a Thermalright AXP90-X47 and the crappy cooler is in the NAS box. The latter doesn't care because it sees barely any CPU load, and the 3500X is much happier.

What ? 59.99£ ? Here it's 145.55 € on 'Mazon.fr

I cheated ;)

I had an unexpected £40 voucher from my cell provider for signing up to their network a while back that arrived a day ago. Didnt think I was ever going to get it so I was super surprised when it arrived.

Otherwise this is the current price:

1709142278656.png

I could have bought it yesterday but at that time they were charging £122 which was bit of a hell naw from me. Checked this morning and amazon had a deal going and the cheapest its been is £93-94 in the past. I'm willing to forego the pain of not having a beer and a half just to get on this deal.

Initially I was thinking about going for the AX53 or 55 to save a hefty wad of cash as nobody in this house has a wifi 6 device and most likely wont in the near future. But the general consensus of this house was that I might aswell pay the extra for wifi 6 for futureproofing. That and this old R7000 only supports 20 and 40hz frequencies while the AX72 also has 160hz which is theoretically better penetrating walls than 20 and 40?? (I think - its what i read. Im not completely clued up on wifi stuff) Also more antennas = better and AX72 seems to get more hype than the AX73 which is weird (73 is faster but not by a whole lot)

Almost fukin doxxed myself hahaha

Thats the same price they are going for in Hong Kong when I checked. I currently have a family member out there who is returning very soon so I was curious if it was worth importing. HK has no VAT rate whereas you guys have 28%??

Some things are always cheaper in Asia anyway..... Not always but quite a lot of the time.

I mostly lurk around here, but after beating my brains out trying to find a new monitor to replace my Dell Ultrasharp u2719d (passed on to the Mrs) I grabbed an Alienware AW3423DWF. I really didn't want to spend more than $600, but, alas the cheaper one I bought disappointed. This will be more enjoyable gaming, but I'll miss the super crisp text of the Ultrasharp. Only a small amount of double guessing went into choosing this over ATX 3.0 design. Mostly on the brain inside newer designs offering something worthwhile. Or maybe there is some other reason these are less popular than models built on a Seasonic base. It is considerably larger than Seasonic S12III 550w it replaced and even most of the enthusiast level 750w on the market.

It'll take a while for me to recover from this purchase (nah, just kidding - been saving EXCLUSIVELY for a big PC upgrade for a while, and it reached black friday-level price). Roughly USD1500, normal price ranges from 1700 to 2000 depending on the shop.

My Capstone 1000M is still going strong in my main rig. Super Flower Golden Green platform. Yup, the one before Leadex became a thing. Bought it second hand from a cryptominer. Decision made after reading this review. So far it's proven to be reliable and resilient to spikes of the 6900XTXH OC'ed to max (w/o MPT).

I'm guessing SF built this for Rosewill.

About the only research I did was browsing TPU review of RGB version. ATX12v 2.32 choice came off sounding much like it favored your experience with touching a system up a bit on the performance end. :D

Upgraded my server. Got a 5600X3D from microcenter, it was marked as open box and was only priced at $160. It was their very last 5600X3D at my location. The normal 5600x is $140. I figured I'd take the X3D version to play with it just because.

On a side note the Be Quiet heatsink, the TIM on it had a bunch of black flakes of something all over it. I cleaned it off an applied my own. I emailed Be Quite about it and in a form of an apology they're sending me a tube of thermal paste they use for their high end coolers (such as Dark Rock Pro 4).

Bought a cheap little 3 port HDMI switch. Sadly, the TV I'm using as a monitor cuts out for a second or two seemingly at random when run through it. Going to try with a couple different cables and see if that fixes it, and if not it's going back. Oh well.

I'm guessing SF built this for Rosewill.

Yes, it's a Super Flower build - I've got one too. Was something of an open secret back when it released.

A 1 TB SATA for $59.99 with free shipping in Canada, about US $44. M.2 variants are also much less costly.

KingSpec is decent brand. I've bought a bunch for my shop over the years and have only had a few come back. They have good performance and make for great budget friendly drives. Like any other brand, lean toward the TLC drives.

this price is inclusive of all taxes and delivery fee.

And yeah, shipping a 1000miles is cheaper than 5 times that :D
