Ryzen 9 5900x is my new cpu and it's a litte faster than a ryzen with 8 cores

What bothers me is that even when it's only doing 10-20% when i have started my pc, it get rather not + 60c until it settles

So new thermal paste thermalright tf7 (thermalright peerless assasins 120 black) but still 60+ low temps almost idle is low 40

Thought tf7 would be okay to use, other paste i have i noctua nt-h1 and mx6

2024-04-10 11_19_25-Reddit - https___preview.redd.it_oxpvg9kmsx2c1.png_width=946&format=png&au...jpg

As i remember pbo is on not shure i use cpu boost overdrive and curve optimizer is at -10 or -15 (atm it can't do lower or else it gets unstable)

Thermalright phantom spirit 120 is super cheap and better than a peerless assassin 120 but is there anything better without having to pay 100 euros or more when 50 euros with shipping should be enough ? Don't say aio, i keep selling those i try or return them since ther are not as silent, quiet as an air cooler

You could also go with the Deepcool AK620, which should be pretty reasonably priced and perform at least as well as the phantom spirit. But likely if you want the temperatures to stay lower than that 60 degree mark at those kinds of loads, custom water cooling is your only option. I have the AK620 in my rig on a 5900X and it has similar behavior.

Deepcool AK620 make absolutely no sense to buy

it's not noticeable better (if it happens to be better) AND it's 60% more expensive

Is there anything better without having to pay 100 euros or more when 50 euros with shipping should be enough ?

Phantom Spirit 120 EVO

/thread

Also, 60C is nothing for Ryzen 5000. They would easily reach that by boosting when doing light tasks unless you like to have your fans changing rpm's all the time.

Why pay so much for that version ?

What's the point of this thread if you already decided that PS 120 SE is your choice? There is a reason that Thermalright coolers became the go to recommendation for air coolers and it's that they deliver either identical or better performance at fraction of the cost of high end coolers.

Noctua - you prefer maximum silence/perf
EVO - you don't like the SE looks and want something in black/rgb
SE - you want best bang for buck and don't care about looks and don't need more than 1500 rpm fans

PS 120 SE over here, gaming I see anything between 56C to 60C when loading one core and 72C+ when heavily multithread (Helldivers 2 using 60% of CPU). Cinebench is 82C. That is on 5800X3D, 5900X will have better temps due to lack of 3D cache layer and two CCD's.

I have a ryzen 5900x not 5800x3d and i do have alot running in the background + pbo (curve optimizer at -10 or -15) i can easily have mid 60's or higher when gaming

because i have disabled hardware acceleration in chrome i do get a high cpu usage when play som facebook games so that will give me mid 70's and around 1500 rpm (not super noisy)

I can google it but don't know if the thermalright phantom 120 se is the best budget cooler and if theres anything non aio that is better

30mm phanteks fans and better thermal paste i cost way more than 50 euros (48 euros + shipping for 2 fans) and would that be better than 7 heapipes instead of 6 and stock thermalright fans + stock thermal paste ?

why would i spend over 50 euros on the EVO when the SE costs less and performs the same up to 1500rpm (don't wanna have a noise cooler)

Are we come so fare in air coolers that only a thermalright phantom 120 se with 3000 rpm fans or the new noctua nh-d15 is better (or much better) than a stock thermalright phantom 120 se (premium price 41 vs + 100 euros ? mabye 120-140 euros for the new noctua?)

Im pretty shure a be quiet dark rock 4 or 5 (what ever the latest version is called) and the scythe fuma 3 isn't better + much more expensive than a thermalright phantom 120 se

There is straight up nothing in the CPU cooling space that provides anywhere close to the bang for the buck that TR does. Unless you want some nebulous “premium” feel and support and go for Noctua it makes no sense buying anything else. The thread was done the second it started.

Oh, and the fans TR provides are more than good enough. The only thing you might want to add is a tube of MX-6. I am not too hot on the bundled TIM.

If air cooler and we don't bother about looks, I wouldn't think about anything other than Thermalright (cheap) or Noctua (quality). Both offer highend performance and tend to support their older coolers with mounting kits for new sockets. Air cooling for 10+ years doesn't really move forward, so it's buying once and not even thinking about changing until performance is enough. To make it happen you need kits and quality to last, so Noctua, but if longevity is not a goal, TR should cut it.

Not true, my X3D runs cooler than my 5900X. That 2 CCD thing being easier to cool is definitely a myth, especially once you start inflating the power limit of the 5900x. To be honest, I haven’t run my 5900X at stock in so long I forget what it’s like.

The Evo can take a T30 in the center without spreading towers and stretching clips. The SE is ok, but it’s so short I think it’s really made for single fan use. Both are good, one is better.

Just so arctic made a new cooler freezer 36 (2 fans) starting at just under 20 euros with free shipping, that must be the new hyper 212 AND can be used with the new LGA1851 socket from Intel without limitation.

I don't think it can be that good compared to a dark rock pro 4 but inclined to buy one just because it's that cheap (only use artic casefans)

Well.. I can run my 58X3D with no fans on my cooler, and I can run my 5900X up to 180w with no fans. I run high power limits because a stock 5900X is slow.

Tiny coolers like that are bad in terms of silence. The lower you normalize the noise, the more they loose with bigger coolers temperature-wise. Their only card is being cheap. Or adequate for easy to cool CPUs where going something beefy won't make noticeable difference.

2000-2500 rpm, no way im going to run 120 or 140 mm fans at that speed

It's the P12 PWM PST, they are not bad, they use them on there second gen freezer aio

Look how you mount the fans and the temps (stock fans later in the video)

It's more about cooling surface area or however it's named in english. I mean size of radiator and amount of heatpipes. Even something as great as U12A using two state of the art fans, on lower noise levels will be destroyed by e.g. D15 having less noise-efficient fans.

About your edit: I won't even bother checking this guy video. Imo he sucks :D
