Why TechPowerUp hasn't reviewed ryzen 8000G series?

TechPowerUp guys make very thorough reviews, and I would like to see their opinion about ryzen 8000G series. Usually they publish reviews around launch time of the particular cpu.

I think @W1zzard is the only one who does CPU reviews and I'd guess they're very busy with other things.

I'm working on a new CPU test suite for 2024, almost ready to start retesting 30 CPUs for comparison data .. so like 2 weeks of work, and then work on the Ryzen 8000 reviews

Thanks for the info. W1zzard, I can see you are the editor of this site, thanks for taking the time to respond :)

I read that 8000s will be a leap in technology. It was supposed to be the 7000 series, but the new platform weren't mature enough. There won't just be performance gain we see from gen to gen, 8000 will bring great graphics and first ever neural engine unit (in x86 world). I will be curious about what that means in numbers

May I make a request?
Can some "pass-thru" testing be done? AFMF is a neat value-add for those still on older high-end GPUs.

Lit. No One has even mentioned that capability, let alone tested it.

Pass-thru might even be of some use in the opposite direction if your old GPU has a better set of video outputs than your motherboard. I'm not suggesting TPU should waste time on that, maybe just confirm if it works.

Digital Trends showed why we need to have reviewers actually test equipment. They wrote an article on why the 7900X3D is not the X3D CPU to buy and after about 6 paragraphs admit that they did not have the actual chip but were waxing their opinion into the narrative. This just adds to the energy that I have to spend defending my choice in buying one with people telling me how weak the fastest PC i have ever owned is slow.

You mean the 9000 series here, the Zen 5. 8000 is still the same generation as 7000. Those leaps in technology are always just small steps, very much welcome but not revolutionary. (And... many forum members here will take to AI and other rogue copilots in Windows with a pickaxe and rat poison.)

@W1zzard, I know there are a least a few readers who wants to see the idle power consumption for CPU's, or at least CPU and motherboard.

I've seen comments about chiplet designs using a lot of power in idle, but never seen it in a review recently.

Thanks for all your detailed reviews!

It's not like others haven't already covered 8700G or 8840HS already. Performance is identical to 7040 Phoenix, it's literally the same thing with the new NPU shoehorned in for Windows 11 "AI" support.

Don't explain. Your friends don't need it, and your enemies won't believe you anyway!

Will 5800X still be on your tested CPUs? :)

Yeah full system idle will be added with the new retest. The other power consumption tests remain unchanged, i.e. CPU only
