Will the new Nvidia control panel (Nv App) be the end of NVCleanstall as we know it ?

If I understand correctly, it will be released as a store application, so probably no way to "debloat".

No need to jump to conclusions just yet. There are some clever bastards running around here.

I have a feeling that NVCP will still be around for quite a while. I just tested the new app and it feels very unfinished and very bloated. Probably the result of it being built on top of GFE, from my understanding. No way, say, professional customers with their Quadros (yes, I know NV dropped the Quadro brand, force of habit) will want to deal with this nonsense in studio and pro driver packages.

So, the old NVCP doesn't be installed in this release 551.61 ?.. anyway i had to copy it in (this app never update, across drivers versions) another folder to be able to launch it once so i will always have it even if i use DDU.

Why would it kill nvcleanstall? it cleans other components as well.

If anything it might keep people from upgrading as I am not sure if I want integrate geforce experience and an app that looks like it will have adverts on it, a reason to stick with older drivers installed via nvcleanstall.

Upgrading will be inevitable after some times: new games support, new OS support, new graphic cards support.

I hope the developers will manage to find a way. All articles I see online talk about how "people wanted this" and is making the situation seem hopeless.

It feels as if they shoved everything in all together and even if its in beta, I don't believe the stability of it will change. Users will be stuck with awfulness like Windows 11 users.

I hope the "classic" CP will be available and usable at least for a year or two, so we will have the time to adapt, and maybe the new app will become better after some times.

I don't spend my time fiddling with settings, what I want is the least possible impact on system resources (RAM, CPU) and if possible no connection to remote servers.

Interestingly, I didn't see people crying about needing time to adapt when AMD switched to the new UI. I, for one, am happy that Nvidia, admittedly a software company, is finally developing software that isn't stuck with us since Windows 95. I'll be sure to thoroughly test it, though, to form a more well-rounded opinion.

As for using system resources, modern UI or no modern UI, the Nvidia driver has a bigger overhead than AMD (that is, it uses more system resources) as it is, even without the new app. It's not about looks, but what happens in the background.

I disable NVContainer service, after driver updated and have set it up (monitors, dsr). NVPInspector works, so.

Download from Store, install, even in a VM, copy files to any directory to your PC with an NV GPU, it will work until NV totally disables/change access to options, but if, then NVPinspector too will have to update !

On AMD side we are used to getting a new software every few years. As you pointed out, Nvidia's CP has been with us since Windows 95 :D

lol, what I do, I unpack every new NV driver and delete folder called "NVTelemetry". Tried with other stuff - lead to install error. Why care?

and NVCPL works still good, while AMD needs some retro VC/QT/NET packages and installs a lot of unneeded cr*p.....

You do realize that the files in this folder are used only when you install and use GeForce Experience?

Like what? I always select full install which gives me the driver, the control panel, and nothing else. While on Nvidia, you also get GF Experience if you forget to untick the box because of... reasons?

In my opinion, the Nvidia drivers have been notorious for giving you useless crap, like GFE, but skimping on basic functionality like overclocking or power limit control.

I'm very curious how this new app works, and I'll be sure to test it once I can pinch the TV off the missus's hands for a bit. :D

Don't remember, the famous "Ryzen Power Plan" comes with chipset driver only, or with GPU one also? And, there is some "send analytics data", if you forget to untick ;)

It comes with the chipset driver, but only up to Ryzen 3000 series (Zen 2). Starting from Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3), there is no Ryzen power plan in Windows anymore.

And, there is some "send analytics data", if you forget to untick ;)
That box is so big and in your face, that it's almost impossible not to notice. Not to mention, it's empty by default, so you have to tick it if you do want to send analytics data for some reason.

no to one, and no to two. I've always had the box ticked and remember clearly try to install stupid unneeded power plan with my 5600X. Also, what is 4000 series? Same crap happened with R3 4100, there was a try to install power plan lol.

Then you remember it wrong. Ryzen 5000 doesn't need the special power plan. I know because I had a 5950X, and my brother still has a 5500, neither of which has/had it. Ryzen 4000 is just a stupid rename of lower end 3000 parts, so I suppose it probably needs it.

And I'm pretty sure the "send analytics data" box was unticked by default during my last few driver installs. Whether this has always been the case, I'm not sure - probably not. But as of today and with the newest driver version, the point stands (I'll check and confirm at the next major update).

Klem, NVCP is still present. NVIDIA App is an optional download.

Correct, custom power plans are designed for use and work only on Zen 2

no to one, and no to two. I've always had the box ticked and remember clearly try to install stupid unneeded power plan with my 5600X. Also, what is 4000 series? Same crap happened with R3 4100, there was a try to install power plan lol.
i have the whole Zen 3 Lineup multiple times and there are no ryzen power plans for Zen 3. neither in the Chipset drivers nor Windows Updates or GPU Drivers.
