Seems like ye olde cp will indeed be around quite a while. Just read a few posts and info from Manuel on NV forums. People are not happy with it. Few answers.
It's possible it will always be a possibility, especially with the tech skills of the guys around here!
Also I have completely denied access and disabled the store in group policy. (Computer and User), but that "app" alone still installs with regular driver package.
BTW in Computer policy you can disable and deny access. In user of course it cant' be disabled, but I denied access there to be sure. I have over 60 GPO, which disable bloat. Took trial and error though. I had to use system restore a few times even.
After 2 years of messing around with it on my PC which has a Local account only, I've finally got a good set of stuff disabled. Speed of the PC in general is noticably but not massively improved. Worth it IMHO.
This is with a strictly local account. On Windows 10 pro. Cant' imagine it working with the now normal online account, or Win 11. That's why I'll stick with Win10 for as long as viable.
Specs below:
CPU: i9-9900ks NO HT - 8 real cores. @ 5.2GHz
Asus Strix RTX 3080ti gaming OC. Boost clock out the box OC is 1815Mhz, and it allows an extra 50 watt. I can play anything at high (sans advanced ray tracing) with this. OCed of course.
Display AOC AG273/11 QGX (Japan only version) 1440p
DDR4 G.Skill Trident Z F4 C17 @3600 Mhz. Two sticks tot 32GB. Oced to 3700MHz and a two secondary and tertiary timing tweaks for more speed.
I built the PC to last, and so far it is "lasting." Sorry for a bit off topic second half, but I guess it is kind of relevant in the big picture.
