I did recently install 11 when I got a new SSD for my main rig. I am liking it better than 10, but there's a few things that are annoying like trying to cut/copy/past/rename with the mouse.

You're lucky!

I'm not having that kind of issue. Those function behave as normal for me. Can you explain in more detail?
Ok for instance I control/print screen to validate a benchmark for hwbot. I used to be able to just right click new bitmap image, paste, then save as jpeg, but now it takes a couple more steps and there's these teeny tiny little icons in paint now that my old eyes can hardly see. It's a small annoyance because it adds another few seconds to every bench I'm running throughout the day. I'll post some images of it tomorrow.

It's shift+PrtScr. But whatever, I'm following you so far.

True, it's much easier in Windows 7.

That would be helpful! See you tomorrow!

It could also be Win-PrtScr. Then the screendump is automatically saved in the My Pictures folders. ;)

So far, every negative comment, supposed shortcoming, and/or incompatibility is (seemingly) all FUD.

I am ready. The question is is Windows 12 ready for me.

Not excited at all because what I want from the OS but isn't present in W10/11 is either considered low/negligible priority by M$ or is outright impossible.

But the ongoing keyboard layout bug would be nice to go away (in case you're unfamiliar, Mustdie sometimes enables unwanted keyboard layouts for no apparent reason so instead of having my usual set of Brazilian ABNT2 for main usage and Russian for chatting with m8s who still don't really understand English I end up having both these layouts and the standard US, or even UK layout on top of that) but M$ ultimately decided to ignore all my complaints (first noticed cca 2015, first complained cca 2017) and called it PEBCAK.

I also don't like growing amounts of bloatware inside OSes. Telemetry draws insane amount of computing power and I'm sure they will make it even tougher. "Upgrade your PC" arguments are non-arguments. Privacy and convenience, even if they don't matter to you, they matter per se.

I'm out before Win12 would reach my desktop- That fews apps i need that only run on windows will be run on a norebook without a network connect. Also the note will run only a few days per year. My main workload will be on Linux. Therefor i start to develop my own (multi-user) software for managing my company. I have only a few items in my rig that need a windows to be configured. Once configured it will run on the device. I.E. The AquaSuite is only needed to configer the Water-cooling system. After it runs straight from the configured Fan-Controller etc. I try to establish the USB connection by a adaptercable transforming an USB 2.0 Type A plug to the internal pin connectors. No reason for me and my company to pay a hell of money for MS. I don't like MS since they copied AmigaOS functionality into their own MS-DOS/Windows (i.e. Guru Meditation message). My actuak Rig i build is already planned to work with Linux only.

It'll be Windows 12 Insiders beta for me, probably in 2024 sometime. Oh wait, that starts in less than 3 months already. Jeez, it's like yesterday I put the DEV version on Windows 11 on that drive. Time flew but I'm ready for the next brew.

At that point I'll prob. be ready to say goodbye to Windows 10 also.

I still to this day have never had a single problem with any Windows version.

Linux?

Lets just say Nobara is my fave for a reason, took a long time to get something good there.

I hate w11 for one simple reason:

unlike previous versions, they added a barrier of encryption acceleration, even though i don't use secure boot or encysted disc

i was hoping for the same seamless up[grade I had from windows 7, not forced features only used by enterprise; instead, ill wait until day one support ends, then force upgrade to whatever the latest is

I did not know that was a thing. Would never use it personally.
I used that "Win"-"PrtScr" a lot of time when writing manuals. ;) MS Uses a general name. "Schreenshot (#)". The # shows the global number of Screenshots taken this way since install.

Not here. I'm actually happy with Windows 11 the way it is currently.

I'm on my 775 build :toast:
How's that running for you with Windows 11? Any snags that you think might affect a possible 12?

No they didn't. It's actually a vast improvement from Windows 7 and 10. I use encryption and it's snappier on 11 than it was on 10.

Fair enough. That does sound kinda handy. My only issue would be the default save folder. I don't used the default Windows user folder system as all of my files are kept on a separate specific drive.

One can reroute the standard folders to any folder. I in my own have my pictures/Music Folders on drive D.

Point to a space you wanna save it. Then, with the first screendump there will be generated a sub-folder where all screendumps will be saved.

The problem is, that only allows for the selection of a drive letter, not a specific folder. Not fine grained enough for me, and I detest microsoft's folder structure system.

You should google a bit to find how it is done. ;) Here a description for Win 10.

An other suggestion: Try to "subst" a drive letter by a individual directory.
Then you can use my already quoted link to use this subst Drive to direct to. There is always a possibility. One has to think MS-alike for some tasks. :D

But that would still deal with microsoft's folder structure system, which is unacceptable. I have my own system, which works just fine for me. I'm not interested in the dumbass way microsoft does certain things.

Do what you want to do. I only suggested a few ways how it could work. If you like it or not is your story. ;) Don't think that i want to force you to use it the described way. I don't. It's Your Computer. It's Your responsibility. So it is your story.

I'm focussig on a migration from Win towards Linux / LibreOffice. Researching for alternatve Programms for my workload on Linux. Reprogramming a hell of macros in Excel/LibreCalc. Programming my needed software for managing my company in Linux using FreePascal/Lazarus. Havin Microsoft out of my business. I need to get a 3D Printer Controlling run at a PI Device. Building up a automated productoion... Quite a lot to do for a OneManShow.

What I would like to see fixed in the new Windows release, is the time Windows needs to install its updates.
My PC checked for updates at 12 minutes passed the hour mark, and only now at 26 minutes passed the hour mark it asks for a restart? :kookoo:

Why is it so slow?

I think is time now for Windows 12.

What features would you want to see?
DirectX 13 with unlimited detail technology?
Improved DirectStorage, so fast PCIe SSDs are properly utilised?
Fixed scaling with high-DPI monitors like 8K?
