Still some people with 2667v2 experience around?
I've got one... Not OCing it currently though.
I do know that most 2667V2's should be able to hit 3.8ghz to 4ghz all core with a minor bump in voltage. Beyond 4ghz depends on silicon lottery. I might be thinking of the V3/V4 series though. It's been a few years..
Scratch that, I was thinking of the 1680V2 which has an unlocked multiplier.

yeah, i know that the multi is locked. But according to intel it should boost to 4,00 Ghz on one core. But somehow mine never hits above 36x multiplier, regardless of what i set it to. It stays way below its 130W TDP rating (90-95W) and is incredibly easy to cool, never going above 60°C. So the Silicon of this is so much better than the 1650v2 i had before (hitting 4.2Ghz wit +0.1V and hitting 165W+80°C). Got it for 15$ which is the same i payed for the 1650v2 half a year earlier.
I tried Bclk OC (just a safe 103mhz) and it works fine, but i'd rather have a 1core turbo of 4Ghz as intended by intel just than a 3,7Ghz allcore. I also tried limiting the corecount in BIOS and then it can hit that higher Multi of 39x. So together with the bclock OC i can hit 4016mhz on 2 Cores.

From channels such as miyconst, i see that many people can run the 2667v2 at 4Ghz allcore on cheap chinese motherboards without any OC and overvolting functionality, even though this Xeon is locked. Miyconst says that there is no turboboost unlock necessary for x79, all multis supported by the CPU should be available (and 40 is supported by intel). You just set a multi of 40 in BIOS for every core and thats it. I tried that, but it doesn't work.

I suppose it is either a windows10 thing or Gigabyte somehow removed the Turbo unlock OC in the newer BIOSes as this was probably not intended by Intel. Does it requite intel Software to enable the Clockspeeds in windows, am i missing something? I also installed (old) Intel XTU and Multipliers are greyed out, but is says that it supports 40x Multi.

You must enable at least C1E for cpu to turbo as it should.
I ran it at 4GHz with bclk OC on MSI x79...

Thank you, that is some valuable Information!
Somehow i think i also need speedstep enabled since it will fall back to 3,3Ghz (baseclock multi) with it being disabled.

4Ghz you mean allcore? So do you mean 36x with a bclock of 111? so your 1T Turbo was 4450mhz?

I have turbo disabled. Default multi is 36.
33 is base but 36 is used when cpu isnt overheating.
36x111=3996
Above 4GHz is unstable without fixed voltage. MSI doesn't have offset...
Yes, I always use eist.

Edit:
I've found 8GB Samsung ECC RAM sticks for 9 euros each :)
m391b1g73qh0-yk0q ,Q die.
Anyway, they hold 2400/2333 MHz, no problem.
Even ECC is working, according to AIDA.
Currently using 2133 since write doesn't scale beyond this point:

Well, I must say this ECC thingy is quite nice ...
CPU reports memory errors when stressing RAM and you can pinpoint exact timings that are causing problems.
It has solved poor scaling past 2133 and increased memory bandwidth while lowering voltage.
Now I can run RAM at jedec voltage @2133 MHz or 1.55V at 2400 MHz with 72+ GB/s read and 66+ write.
Bought a second set for secondary X79 system :)
... and RAM reports temperature per module ...

Nice results!
I will have a look if i can reach that high of a BCLK, but i am not too optimistic since i use an NVME drive which will suffer from overclocked PCIe and GPU and NIC too.

I use leftover DDR3 1333cl9 low profile sticks from Kingston, which happen to run perfectly fine at 1866 cl11 using 1.55V. No ECC, but i guess that makes timings slightly better. If i remember correctly there is a latency hit when using ECC. I am at 55gb/s and 67ns of latency, which looks pretty fine for me as it is equaling a typical modern DDR4 3200 setup.

Hm... Of course, your mileage may vary but out of 5 boards, 4 were able to hold 111 (even crappy MSI) and one wasn't tested...
111mhz bclk is rather generous and uncommon. You'd be more likely to get 106 or 107 on the higher end.

Problem with MSI board which was not present on others was that you had to increase BCLK in steps.
You can't go from 100 to 110 or 108.
First, BCLK of 105, reboot, 108, reboot, any other.
After that there was no issues whatsoever. Computer stars fine every time.
As if 2667v2 or MB had to shift something ... don't know but repeatable and predictable.
I suspect similar behavior caused people to think limit is so low.
R4E had no problems keeping 113 MHz for months between manual reboot ...

I got a 105 BCLK running, but anything more would crash. I did set it to 104 now for 24/7 and it draws between 90 and 115W on MT loads at 3,75 Ghz allcore which i find acceptable for daily use. The system is very responsive for the age thanks to a PCIe Gen3x4 SSD.

It will still not turbo above 36x Multi. When i deactivate 2 Cores in BIOS i can get it to use a 38x Multiplier on 1T loada, but i think that is a bad tradeoff for 2 less cores even in gaming.

Ar least my nephew is delighted with his first gamingPC. It is not new, but it looks good and has solid bones i'd say.

Try to enable higher c states like c3 for additional turbo bins.
On Asus and MSI you need only C1E, but maybe Asrock has different logic...

Edit: and always use "internal pll overvoltage" plus cpu pll if u can select.
Manually select 100 strap to avoid bios interference.
+ since it's nvidia, try to use pcie gen2 when on high bclk

Do you think that here asus rampage iv extreme with e5-2697v2 if using 16gb ecc or 32gb ecc sticks would it work?
I'm afraid if I buy memory like this here and the PC won't work hehe

Well if they a reg ecc I don't think it will work but if you try let me now pls. I am also curious I have 64Gb on my 2697 V2/Asus Sabertooth but it's just regular ram I believe that also reg unbuffered memory should work fine on X79 branded motherboards.....

Don't think so, but haven't tried.
I have some old 2GB Registered ECC DIMMs so i can try them in the next few days, but unbuffered ECC works fine on Formula ...

Unfortunately, no. The ASUS Rampage 4 Extreme will not support Registered DIMMs. While that XEON CPU fully supports RDIMMs, the motherboard also has to have support and ASUS boards generally don't.
Page 2.5 in the User manual confirms this.

It looks like I may finally be retiring my Asus X79 Sabertooth/ E5-1680 V2 rig. I'm thinking of using the Corsair Carbide 500R case for my still uncompleted Asus X99 Rampage V Edition 10/ 6950X build and moving ahead one generation. It's been a great 11 year run for X79 but now I want more USB 3.0 front panel ports, native NVMe, WiFi, more CPU cores and more RAM. I have 128GB of G.Skill Trident Z 3333 on hand and a like new EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW on hand for the upgrade.
Nice that's my plan too. I just ordered mine Asus Rampage V Edition 10. It is super brand new sure with all accessories and box it's a lot $400 though but mine the regular red one I ordered in 2015 which was $440. The whole thing was stolen had quad 980s so it's very personal for me. I did get an free 5930k from the seller so it's an very good trade off. I've been using the Asus X79 Deluxe. It took me forever to OC the 1680 V2 at least 4.5ghz i've had it since 2021. I can't get do 4.6ghz it blue screens. I feel like might need an Rampage IV Black Edition. I'm using an 280mm AIO. DDR3 2400mhz.

Yeah I already have modded bios for NVME drives....here picture of my bios with option for 4g decoding

Hey I do not know where to find that uefi tool non-ne version as with version that I have do not open bios properly I will check later or if you know how to do this mod I can send you my bios file and you can add this option....
I've been trying to figure out this for me X79 Asus Deluxe it's not that easy.

Thank you so I'm still very confused on how to do it and also for x99 too. I finally downloaded the right UEFITool nothing shows up to look for 4G Decode there needs to be an video made. It is very very frustrating, I did see with this X79 bios have to reinstall windows lol I really do need to get into windows cloning software.

You must enable at least C1E for cpu to turbo as it should.
I ran it at 4GHz with bclk OC on MSI x79...
I have a 3820 in the attic and I was never able to hit 4Ghz on it without messing with the BCLK or the BCLK strap. You do need turbo enabled to get anything higher than the base clock without fiddling with the BCLK though. IIRC, my 3820 would do 39x, but not 40x. My go-to for overclocking higher was to use the 125Mhz BCLK strap. If you run at 36x, the 125Mhz strap should let you hit 4.5Ghz if you can get it stable. Just make sure to update your DRAM speed to make up for the change in BCLK, otherwise your DRAM will have a whopping 25% overclock on it. You also may need to fiddle with other voltages like VTTIO and the agent voltage to get it stable.

I loaded a modded BIOS for my P9X79 Deluxe and I got the 4G decode option however the machine fails to POST when I turn it on.

BEHOLD. I had all settings the same except on the newer run I actually had voltage up a tick or two so even better than it appears...also I notice it ran faster and got better results due to the cpu being cooler I'd imagine! So, even though I did get some on my board (messy stuff) I managed to clean it off (was only drop or two) enough not to fry anything on my poor old Rampage black lol.

Hi all. Barely been turning pc on in last couple months and now it overheats in short order! Not sure why. I need additional fittings for the 7900xtx liquid devil to fit into loop too!!
However it does work fine, knowing it uses 2d clocks and needs no cooling at idle I just booted pc with it but no water hooked up to it, 34 Celsius at desktop and gpuz showed it properly and display was clear.
Ironically the gpu with no cooling boots fine but the cpu with watercooling overheats in a couple minutes! I’m still a relative newbie with my water cooled frankenmonster so anybody have ideas on troubleshooting and things to look for?
I did unplug couple spots in loop to figure out how to plug card in till I realized the gpu needed additional fittings. So hoping I can figure it out I don’t have money to upgrade fully atm.

anybody got suggestions?
