I'd be more sympathetic if they hadn't taken massive government subsidies to implement fiber, and done pretty much nothing with them over a decade.
It's especially frustrating to be in an apartment building where they're the only (wired) option. Had WOW at my old address, it was like $55 a month for 600Mbit down, no data cap. Never any issues. It we were in a house I could get WOW here even cheaper, $45 for the same plan...

Instead I'm paying $80 a month to rent Xfinity's horrible modem since that's the "best" way to get no data cap. The modem is definitely causing issues, I had my own on the line before, all kinds of latency problems since. Tech support claims it's all in spec, but I regularly see 100+ms loaded latency.

Tried Verizon 5G hotspot thing, it was a little cheaper, but slower - ~180Mbits, when working properly - and unreliable. That would drop to effectively nothing several times a day, seemingly at random, and tech support could not find a fix. If it were like $30 and more reliable I'd consider.

Ping times primarily given modern advances. They will never compare even with the mirracle bandwidth theyve been able to shove into it.
This too. Latency with Fiber is anywhere from half to a quater(or better) of copper cabling.

What's "WOW"?

I would move while telling the management the reason you're leaving is that the internet option sucks moose muffins.

So currently I have the 2GB plan

on average I see around 1200-1700 down and 40 up. Ping has never exceeded 10ms either. My issue is the upload which is hot crap

We had this same exact crap happen where im at maybe 4 months ago with Optimum Online. We have the 300Mbps plan and had the boost service before too and still do,, were grandfathered into the old contract. 82.00/mo. now. Verizon fiber just got put in the area though so we may be moving to it if we cant............ negotiate :D the cable co into a better rate.

WideOpenWest. They expanded east more recently, making the name a bit odd, but all my experiences have been positive... Which is a rare thing to say about an ISP.

I'd love to move, and almost certainly will when the lease is up in ~6 months, hopefully to buy, but kinda stuck for now. It's a shame, everything else about the place is pretty nice.

Verizon Fios just raised their rate by $10 per month as well. These days you can expect prices/rates for everything to only go up.

I have Century Link Fiber 1Gig up and Down no data caps month to month. They recently upped the price 10 dollars from $65 a month to $75 a month. Other than that excellent service if you can get the ppoe username and password so you can use your own firewall. If you have to call support, they are only open 8a-5pm Mon-Fri which really sucks. Only time i have had to call support was trying to get the ppoe username and password and i have had this service for 3 years now.

Mine are around double that. You must be in a good area. That's part of coppers problem is distance adds to ping badly.

Good area is subjective

but in the city itself every house I’ve been in has been 10ms or less

most houses are 50-150ft from the node using RG6

longest I’ve seen is 300ft at that point RG11 is used

Ah, ok. Never heard of them. Glad you can say that about them!
