AGON by AOC Announces AGON PRO AG276QZD 27-inch 240Hz OLED Gaming Monitor

AGON by AOC—the world's leading gaming monitor and IT accessories brand - proudly unveils the AG276QZD - the latest addition to the AGON PRO series. This state-of-the-art 26.5" (67.3 cm) gaming monitor features an OLED panel, which delivers a sharp QHD resolution (2560x1440) at a stunning 240 Hz refresh rate and a blazingly fast 0.03 ms GtG response time. The AG276QZD offers a breathtaking infinity contrast ratio thanks to the per-pixel-illumination of the OLED panel, perfect black levels, and a wide color gamut (10-bit color depth and 98.5% DCI-P3 coverage), making it an excellent choice for gamers who appreciate both visual excellence and exceptional performance. Thanks to its striking, asymmetrical design touches with a two-tone black/space grey finish, the AG276QZD is not just an eye-catcher but already a winner of the Red Dot Design Award (2022).

The AGON PRO AG276QZD utilises an advanced OLED panel, providing an unprecedented contrast ratio compared to everyday LCD monitors (uniform backlights), and true-to-life colors with perfect blacks and wide viewing angles. The display's comparatively faster response time (0.03 ms GtG) and lower input lag as well as Adaptive-Sync support and G-Sync compatibility facilitate smoother gameplay and make every moment count in competitive gaming scenarios.

LG Sneaks Out Two 4K UltraGear Gaming Monitors

LG is something of an expert when it comes to silently launching new monitors and although its latest additions to its UltraGear range of gaming monitors are only minor variants of already existing products, it appears that we're looking at a pair of more affordable models. The 27GR93U-B and 32GR93U-B as the new models are called, measure 27 and 32-inches respectively and both offer 4K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Comparing the 27GR93U-B to the 27GN950-B, the first really obvious difference is the use of a standard IPS panel instead of a Nano IPS panel and this leads to a slight reduction in the DCI-P3 colour gamut from 98 to 95 percent.

The new models are only certified for FreeSync Premium, rather than FreeSync Premium Pro, but that appears to be the only obvious reduction in gaming features, as G-Sync compatible support, VRR, Black Stabilizer, Dynamic Action Sync, Crosshairs and the FPS counter are all present and accounted for. Both displays have two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and one upstreams and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports, as well as a 4-pole 3.5 mm jack for a headset. On the plus side, these new models have slightly lower power consumption, with a typical power consumption of about 50 W for the 27-inch model and 65 W for the 32-inch model. The stand still supports tilt, height and pivot adjustment. No official pricing was announced, but we found the 27-inch model listed in Hong Kong for the equivalent of around US$560, which is around US$200 less than what the 27GN950-B retails for.

InnoLux Goes IGZO for its Upcoming Gaming Display Panels

IGZO or Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide is a type of semiconducting material that has been used in displays by Sharp since 2012, although mainly for mobile devices courtesy of being more power efficient compared to standard IPS panels. There doesn't seem to have been much interest by other players in the display industry to use the material, although there have been other IGZO based display panels in the past. However, at Touch Taiwan, InnoLux showed off no less than two new display panels relying on IGZO, both targeting gamers. Both panels measure 27-inches and support HDR 600. The 2560 x 1440 model is capable of a massive 480 Hz, a refresh rate that was only possible using TN panels to date.

The second display panel offers 3840 x 2160 resolution at 240 Hz, which isn't unique on the market, but as these IGZO panels are based around IPS rather than VA technology, they shouldn't suffer from the dreaded ghosting that many VA panels suffer from. InnoLux was very sparse on other technology details, but both panels have a 98 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and the QHD display has a grey to grey response time of 3 ms, whereas the 4K variant is a bit higher at 5 ms. Both panels looked stunning and this might be what many gamers have been waiting for, at least as a stop gap before OLED displays become more affordable.

MSI Intros G2712 Fast IPS Gaming Monitor

MSI today introduced the G2712, a 27-inch planar gaming monitor with a fast IPS panel that offers 1 ms (MPRT) response time, 170 Hz refresh-rate, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium. The monitor offers Full HD (1080p) resolution with 170 Hz refresh-rate requiring the DisplayPort 1.2a connection. The only other connection is HDMI 1.4b, which limits the refresh-rate to 120 Hz. 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 1100:1 static contrast ratio make for the rest of the panel specs. You get a handful of gamer-friendly features, such as genre-specific display presets, though this monitor really is best suited for e-sports titles in the FPS or MOBA/RPG genres.

ASUS Launches the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor

ASUS today formally launched the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor. We first spotted this monitor on the show-floor at the 2023 International CES back in January. It is one of the company's fastest monitors with an OLED display panel. The 27-incher offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with a blistering 0.03 ms response time, and 240 Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits peak brightness and DCI-P3 coverage of 99%. OLED panels tend to produce more heat than LED-backlit LCD panels, and so ASUS introduced a passive cooling solution to cool it. The monitor supports NVIDIA G-SYNC (compatible), along with VESA Adaptive Sync. Display inputs include a DisplayPort 1.4, and two HDMI 2.0. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS Launches 300 Hz 27-inch WQHD ROG Strix Gaming Monitor with DisplayHDR 600

For those that find a 270 Hz refresh rate a bit on the laggy side when gaming at 2560 x 1440, ASUS has updated its ROG Strix series of monitors with the XG27AQMR model. The R on the end of the model name denotes the higher refresh rate, as well as support for DisplayHDR 600 over the previous model in the series. Although the two monitors are said to be using a Fast IPS panel, the new model has a 1 ms Grey to Grey response time, whereas the older model is rated at 0.5 ms.

All the gaming features you'd expect to find are of course included, such are FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility, ELMB which can be combined with FreeSync and various other ASUS specific features such as GameFast Input technology and GameVisual. The inputs haven't changed from the previous model in the series either, which means there's one DP 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-B input and two USB-A ports, all supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, or 5 Gbps. The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment. No word on pricing, but the previous model retails for around US$650, so we'd expect a small price premium on top of that for the higher refresh rate and improved HDR support.

ASUS ROG Swift Pro PG248QP 540 Hz and ROG Swift PG27AQDM OLED 240 Hz Monitors

It may be small, but it's fast! The new ROG Swift Pro PG248QP is a 24.1-inch planar gaming monitor with a measly Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, but an at an incredible 540 Hz refresh rate, making it the world's fastest E-Sports display. This display is so quick, and ASUS set up a 144 Hz display next to it for comparison, and one could tell the difference. The monitor also features NVIDIA G-SYNC, and NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer, along with a USB 3.2 hub, so you can plug your Reflex-compatible gaming mouse to the monitor, and the monitor itself to an upstream USB 3.2 source, besides the DisplayPort connection. Another interesting aspect about this monitor is that ASUS has integrated a high-end USB audio DAC sourced from ESS, so you can plug your analog headset to the display and get audio quality on par with a high-end onboard audio solution, or even a mid-range discrete sound card.

Elsewhere across the ASUS ROG booth, we caught the ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQDM-OLED, the company's fastest gaming monitors to use an OLED panel. This 27-inch monitor offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with 0.03 ms response time, and 240 Hz refresh rate, besides 1,000 nits peak brightness, and 99% DCI-P3 coverage. The panel features an anti-glare micro-coating. OLED displays tend to produce more heat than backlit LCD displays, and so this monitor packs a series of thermal innovations to prolong the lifespan of the OLED panel. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium,

HyperX Armada Gaming Monitor Pictured

HyperX, the former gaming peripherals brand of Kingston, was acquired by PC OEM giant HP in 2021. It was only natural for HP to use the HyperX brand to ship gaming monitors at some point, as the company has a vast lineup of not just PC and professional displays, but also some gaming displays under its HP OMEN brand. The company announced the HyperX Armada brand of gaming monitors in the 25-inch and 27-inch planar category in September 2022. We spotted it at the 2023 CES. It has prominent HyperX badging, some peel-off stickers on the front bezel detailing its key gamer-friendly features; and an NVIDIA G-SYNC logo. Key specs include WQHD (1440p) resolution, 165 Hz refresh-rate, DisplayHDR 400, and a fast IPS panel with 1 ms response time.
