LG Electronics (LG) announced today pricing and availability of its 2024 UltraGear OLED gaming monitors, designed to provide superior gaming experiences. The lineup is led by the 45GS95QE-B—an immersive 45-inch curved LG OLED monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The expanded lineup includes the highly anticipated CES 2024 Innovation Award-winning 32-inch 4K gaming monitor (model 32GS95UE) equipped with the new Dual Mode feature which allows gamers to switch between 4K (3,840 x 2,160) at 240 Hz and Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080) at 480 Hz with one simple click.

The company is also introducing its 39- and 34-inch models with ultra-wide curved screens: the 39GS95QE and 34GS95QE. All four models are now available for pre-order thru March 17, 2024 at LG.com (shipping expected in late March and throughout April) and available later at LG-authorized retailers. Customers who place a pre-order for the 45GS95QE-B, 39GS95QE or 34GS95QE UltraGear OLED gaming monitors via LG.com are eligible to receive a $200 Virtual Mastercard prepaid card. INNOCN brought its latest gaming monitors to the 2024 International CES; it didn't waste out time with monitors based on 15 year old tech; but rolled out the very latest—IPS with miniLED backlighting, and OLED. The Titan Army P27A6V is a 27-inch planar display with 4K Ultra HD resolution and a blistering 144 Hz refresh rate (which is high, considering this is 4K). This display uses an IPS panel with miniLED backlighting, and meets DisplayHDR 1000 spec. Display connectivity include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, both of which provide enough bandwidth of 4K HDR @ 144 Hz. Brilliant stuff, but this is "only" a 27-inch display, which will incur Hi-DPI scaling. Need something bigger? Check out the Titan Army P32A6V, which has identical specs to the P27A6V, but in a larger 32-inch planar format. Both these displays come in gunmetal gray and matte-white body color variants.

Switching up gears is the INNOCN M27E6V, a 27-inch planar display with a Fast IPS panel paired with miniLED backlighting. This one provides 4K Ultra HD with even faster 160 Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR 1400, and 99% coverage of DCI-P3. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and USB type-C (DisplayPort passthrough). You can use the monitor in single cable mode if the USB-C connection is capable of delivering 90 W. The next premium display is the Titan Army G27E8S, a 26.5-inch planar display that uses an OLED panel, and meant for performance gaming. You get a lower WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution than the other three displays we mentioned so far; but at higher 240 Hz refresh rate, and under 0.5 ms GTG response time, thanks to the OLED panel. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. The display meets HDR10 spec.

TrendForce reports that the ever-expanding dimensions of OLED products, combined with the ambitious plans of several top-tier brands, mean that 2023 could see OLED monitor shipments hitting a staggering 508,000 units—an astronomical YoY surge of 323%. Come 2024, the OLED landscape will be richer with more diverse product sizes and specifications. Add to that the debut of the 27-inch and 31.5-inch OLED panels by two leading Korean panel makers, and the arena is set for a showdown. Such dynamics are predicted to catapult OLED monitor shipments past the coveted one million unit threshold.

In terms of market share, Samsung is on track for a spirited push in OLED monitor shipments in 2H23, potentially capturing a market share of 27%—echoing LGE's performance. Not to be left behind, Dell is ardently pushing its 34-inch offering, hoping to clinch a market presence above 20%. Meanwhile, ASUS, having strategically positioned itself in the OLED monitor sector recently, is eyeing a market share nearing 9% this year.

Samsung Display today announced it will exhibit a variety of paradigm-shifting, next-generation OLED technologies at the SID Display Week 2023, May 23-25, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. At the event, Samsung Display is unveiling Rollable Flex, which aims to revolutionize the portability of tablet PCs or laptops, and Sensor OLED display, which provides new usability by embedding fingerprint and blood pressure sensors in panels without attaching separate modules. With these and other OLED innovations, Samsung is demonstrating its drive to create and lead new market segments.

LG Electronics (LG) has launched its newest UltraGear gaming monitor (model 49GR85DC), a curved 49-inch display with a 32:9 aspect ratio and an ultra-high 240 Hz refresh rate. Like having two 16:9 monitors side by side, the impressive new model delivers the silky-smooth gameplay and top-notch picture quality needed for immersive gaming experiences. While designed with gamers in mind, the 49GR85DC is also suitable for productivity or viewing content thanks to its advanced multitasking functionality and extra-wide screen.

Featuring a 49-inch Dual QHD (5,120 x 1,440) resolution panel with a 1000R curvature, LG's new UltraGear gaming monitor provides sharp, vibrant images that fill the user's field of vision. It's no wonder AUO didn't reveal the actual resolution of its new 49-inch 5K panel in its press release yesterday, as this is a typical 5120 x 1440 panel when it comes to the resolution. Yes, it's capable of 360 Hz, which is higher than the competition which is currently at 240 Hz. AUO has also managed to crank up the backlight to 600 nits in HDR mode, although this is still a typical backlight and not some kind of FALD implementation.

The panel itself is based on AUO's PSA, which is a VA type of panel. It has a contrast ratio of 5000:1 and covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. AUO claims that the panel has a 1 ms grey to grey response time with overdrive enabled. As per yesterday's press release, the panel has a 1000R curvature, which means it's very curved, as you can see in the pictures below. We don't know who AUO's customers for the panel are, but we'll hopefully see some indications at Computex next month.

Tomorrow, the Touch Taiwan trade show kicks off in Taipei and AUO will be showing off a range of new products at the show, which TPU will be attending, so we'll have some hands/eyes on coverage this week. As far as gaming monitors are concerned, the big announcement from AUO is a 49-inch ultrawide, curved 5K display panel that supports refresh rates of up to 360 Hz. The company didn't reveal the actual resolution in its press release, but we'll find out at the trade show what 5K resolution means in this case, as it's most likely 5120 x 1440, since this is what most 32:9 5K displays offer today.

AUO will also be showing off a 24-inch, 540 Hz, 1080p display panel that the company claims will "eliminate screen tearing, stuttering, and ghosting issues. There's no mention of the display panel used, but it's most likely a TN panel. Somewhat less gaming related, AUO will also have a 17.3-inch, transparent Micro LED notebook panel on display, which the company says will enhance the display quality under glare, something they'll hopefully be demoing at the trade show.

LG Electronics USA announced today pricing and availability of its new 49-inch Curved UltraGear monitor (49GR85DC-B). Priced at $1299, the latest in the UltraGear lineup is now available for preorder thru April 2, 2023 exclusively at LG.com and will include a special preorder offer of a free UltraGear Gaming Pad ($199.99 ARV). Pre-orders are expected to ship in early April.

Bringing gameplay to the next level, LG's 49-inch UltraGear monitor features an up to 240 Hz Dual QHD (5120x1440) curved (1000R) display with an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio. The 49GR85DC-B model also supports VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and delivers an ultra-fast 1 ms (GtG) response rate. Paired with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, serious gamers are equipped with a fluid, virtually tear-free HDR gaming experience. Advanced gaming features also include Dynamic Action Sync, Black Stabilizer, FPS Counter, and Crosshair.

Based on news out of Korea, Samsung is said to be launching a 49-inch QD-OLED based monitor at some point later this quarter, although sadly, nothing was mentioned about what kind of resolution the display would sport. At the same time, Samsung is also said to be launching a 77-inch TV model, as the Elec suggests the two will be made from the same Gen 8.5 substrate.

This is because Samsung Display can cut two 77-inch and two 49-inch QD-OLED display panels from each Gen 8.5 substrate. Initially Samsung had apparently requested a 48-inch monitor, but based on the Elec's sources, Samsung Display declined, as it didn't make economical sense to waste the extra panel substrate. With a bit of luck, the new 49-inch display panel will feature a 4K resolution, as all of Samsung's QD-OLED TVs to date, are 4K. The only exception is Samsung's 34-inch QD-OLED monitor panel, which is 3440x1440, as we know. The monitor is said to be sold as Samsung OLED, suggesting that Samsung might dual source panels from LG Display as well.

Back at Computex 2022, MSI first announced the MEG 342C QD-OLED display, which finally appears to be ready to hit retail, as the company was showing off it, alongside its upcoming MEG 491C QD-OLED display, which was teased back in November. MSI revealed some additional details of the 34-inch MEG 342C QD-OLED, beyond the fact that it's using a curved 1800R, 3440 x 1440 resolution panel with a 175 Hz refresh rate. As such, we now know the monitor has an unspecified DisplayPort input, a pair of HDMI 2.1 inputs, a USB Type-C input with DP Alt mode support and 65 W USB Power Delivery support, as well as a USB-B upstreams port and four USB-A downstreams ports. MSI has also kitted out the monitor with OLED Care, which the company claims reduces image sticking and burn-in. Other features include a built in KVM, PBP and PIP support as well as a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, although the monitor has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The MEG 342C QD-OLED is said to have an MSRP of around US$800.

The MEG 491C QD-OLED appears to be based on the same QD-OLED panel as Samsung's OLED G9. The model on display at CES was apparently non functional, which suggests that we might have to wait another six months before it becomes available, if the MEG 342C QD-OLED is anything to go by. The monitor sports the same 1800R curvature as the Samsung OLED G9 and obviously has the same 5120 x 1440 resolution and 240 Hz refresh rate. MSI didn't share much else in terms of specifications, so we're going to have to wait for the actual launch to find out more, including what will probably be a prohibitively high price tag.

Content creators will appreciate the latest ProArt Display OLED PA32DCM and ProArt Display PA279CRV. The former is an advanced 4K UHD DCI-P3 professional monitor that features an RGB Stripe OLED panel with 700 nits maximum brightness. Ahead of CES 2023, Lenovo unveiled its latest ThinkPad X1 laptops featuring recycled materials, updated Lenovo Commercial Vantage software designed to highlight feature settings that can help improve energy efficiency, and a new Lenovo View application offering advanced computer vision technology for enhanced video image quality and tools for collaboration, security, and digital wellness. The latest line of ThinkVision monitors leads with the ultra-bright ThinkVision P27pz-30 and P32pz-30 mini-LED displays followed by ThinkVision's new T-series VOIP monitors built for hybrid work, featuring an integrated Microsoft Teams functionality, 5MP cameras, dual microphones, and speakers. Lenovo also introduced its latest professional-grade 4K ThinkVision P-series monitors and, for the home, new value-conscious Lenovo L-series monitors. Completing an efficient hybrid eco-system are new Lenovo accessories, including the unique Lenovo Go Desk Station, Lenovo Go 4K Pro Webcam, and Lenovo Professional Wireless Rechargeable Combo Keyboard and Mouse.

In line with its vision of achieving net-zero by 2050 aligned to Science Based Target initiatives, Lenovo continues to focus on supporting a circular economy by increasing the use of recycled materials in its products and packaging, and collaborating with industry partners to help increase energy efficiency of its devices. This includes working with suppliers and global logistics providers to decrease the emissions released in its supply chain and take every opportunity to increase the energy efficiency in Lenovo's factories and workplaces.

If LG's 45-inch OLED monitor isn't quite big enough for you, MSI might have what you've been waiting for, as the company has teased its upcoming Project 491C 49-inch QD-OLED monitor on Twitter. This is yet another massive OLED display that supports 240 Hz refresh rate, but beyond that, the company didn't share any real details of the display. The company has apparently already won a CES 2023 innovation award for the monitor, although we couldn't find any details about it on the CES website. MSI will apparently reveal the full details of the display at CES in January, so we're going to have to wait until then for the full details. We should note that this is the second QD-OLED display from MSI, which announced the 34-inch MEG 342C earlier this year.
