MSI Teases 49-inch Super Ultra-Wide QD-OLED Monitor

If LG's 45-inch OLED monitor isn't quite big enough for you, MSI might have what you've been waiting for, as the company has teased its upcoming Project 491C 49-inch QD-OLED monitor on Twitter. This is yet another massive OLED display that supports 240 Hz refresh rate, but beyond that, the company didn't share any real details of the display. The company has apparently already won a CES 2023 innovation award for the monitor, although we couldn't find any details about it on the CES website. MSI will apparently reveal the full details of the display at CES in January, so we're going to have to wait until then for the full details. We should note that this is the second QD-OLED display from MSI, which announced the 34-inch MEG 342C earlier this year.

yes that's what most people want and can afford :)

More seriously, it's more of a technological demonstrator than a real viable product...but it would be good to see more info for instance on the MEG 342C which share the same display as the qd-oled AW...it was revealed in masy but still no info

Is it the same dual-4K resolution as the one from Samsung teased in AMD GPU launch event?

I would still prefer 16:9, simply ultrawide still causes some sort of issues in games and the lack of support on PS5.

which launched the 34-inch MEG 342C earlier this year.
Has it actually launched? I know they announced it and did one stream but it isn't on sale anywhere AFAIK.

Changed it, as it doesn't seem to be on sale yet, oddly enough...

I know exactly the amount of details that I provided. I don't work for MSI.

I don't have high hopes for this one either. 342 was announced in Q1 2022 or something like that, since then we had 3423DW and DWF and that Samsung variant being announced and released. I doubt that MSI will be able to deliver 342C before Q1 2023, with the 49" variant coming late in Q2 2023.

I really have no idea.
I guess there's a good chance it'll be the same panel though.

Since these ginormous "monitors" are basically just TV's now, just buy a good TV! :D

I don't know, either more games are starting to support monitors like this or there is a growing need for individuals to have a huge amount of horizontal desktop space because we are evolving into something like that Fleet Admiral Gial Ackbar from Return of the Jedi. I kind of doubt competitive games would support it if it grants a greater view range vs those that aren't using widescreen monitors.

Especially pricing.

I got a 55" LG C1 OLED TV for $1300 CAD. PS5 and PC look amazing on it. These monitors are about same price while being smaller.

It's what I did, LG 42" C2, haven't looked back, it's astonishingly good to game on, plus it's a fully fledged smart TV too, and brings any content to life.

I have two 32" screens - someone is going to have to step up and make AT LEAST a 55" 32:9 screen for me to move forward.
