Corsair AX1500i Digital Power Supply Now Available

Corsair, the most awarded PC power supply brand in the world, today announced the availability of the much-anticipated AX1500i Digital ATX power supply from www.corsair.com. Using advanced digitally-controlled circuitry to deliver ultra-stable power at over 94% efficiency, the AX1500i is the first 1500 watt PSU to meet the ultra-efficient 80 PLUS Titanium standard. The AX1500i will also be available from retailers in late May.

Using Corsair's second-generation digital architecture, the AX1500i uses a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) to control power output, resulting in tighter DC voltage output regulation and superior stability for your valuable PC's components. The AX1500i's incredible efficiency also results in greatly reduced heat, allowing the PSU to operate in a truly silent Zero-RPM fan mode at loads of up to 450 W. Even when delivering its maximum 1500 W of power, a high-quality 140 mm Dynamic Fluid Bearing (DFB) fan allows the AX1500i to operate quietly.

Corsair AX1500i Bags 80 Plus Titanium Certification

Corsair's upcoming flagship power supply, the 1500-Watt AX1500i, which debuted at this year's International CES, qualified for the coveted 80 Plus Titanium efficiency rating, which is a notch above 80 Plus Platinum. The unit should be most efficient when plugged into 230V AC lines, but was tested on a 115V AC line. It was tested to offer 91.23% efficiency at 10% load, 92.63% efficiency at 20% load, 94.04% efficiency at 50% load, and 91.34% efficiency at 100% load, staying above 90% at all test scenarios. The fully modular PSU offers a boat-load of power connectors, and should drive R9 290X 4-way CrossFireX setups with 220W TDP FX-9590 CPUs, without breaking a sweat. It supports Corsair LINK, giving you a degree of control and monitoring over the PSU's vitals. The AX1500i is expected to hit shelves later this year, priced at US $450.

Super Flower Shows Off First 80 Plus Titanium PSU

Thought 80 Plus Platinum was the pinnacle of PSU efficiency? Think again. 80 Plus Titanium is where it's at. Applicable only in regions with 220~230VAC domestic power, 80 Plus Titanium requires a PSU to offer at least 94 percent efficiency at 20 percent load, at least 96 percent efficiency at 50 percent load, and at least 91 percent efficiency at 100 percent load. Currently, just 8 PSUs went under 80 Plus certification, because only server-grade PSUs could earn it. Super Flower unveiled what is perhaps the first consumer PSU to do it, which it's yet to name. The PSU is 80 Plus Titanium certified under 220~230VAC, and at least 80 Plus Platinum certified under 100~120VAC.

Several of Super Flower's new 80 Plus Platinum-certified PSUs are scraping 80 Plus Titanium efficiency levels, although they're not quite there. These units feature an 80 Plus Platinum badge with a ">92% at 50% load" marking, denoting efficiency levels that get very close to 80 Plus Titanium. In any case, those are some excellent efficiency numbers being offered. A star-attraction at Super Flower's booth is the Leadex Platinum 1000W, a fully-modular PSU that is advertised to offer over 94% efficiency at 50 percent load.
