A Closer Look at NVIDIA's Cinder Block Sized Air Cooler for RTX 4090 Ti—22 Heatpipes

Amidst reports that NVIDIA has shelved plans to release a new flagship RTX 40-series graphics card to top the current RTX 4090, we are getting even more pictures of the company's ingenious product design for what could have been the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti, or RTX TITAN (Ada). Pictures of the card's cooling solution has been in the news since January 2023, with more images surfacing in June. We are getting our first images of the cooler disassembled, revealing a startling look at the engineering effort NVIDIA put into this thing.

As we mentioned earlier, the "RTX 4090 Ti" features a unique ruler-shaped PCB that's oriented along the plane of the motherboard, rather than perpendicular to it, like any other add-on card. This is to minimize the spatial footprint of the PCB, and maximize volume for the cooler—which is 4 slots, thick, with its entire thickness dedicated to heat-dissipation, and no obstruction posed by the PCB.

Wizmax at the 2023 Computex: GM and GX Series Cases, Titanium High-Wattage PSU

With their signature upward positioned front air vent, Wizmax cases were unmissable at the 2023 Computex. The company showcased four of the top case models, along with a new high-wattage ATX 3.0 PSU. The GX-3 Chang and GM-3 Moon are characterized by their distinct front-panel design that looks like a Chinese room divider pattern from the mid-19th century. Measuring 518 mm x 250 mm x 585 mm, the GX3-Chang features a horizontally-partitioned layout, its width opens up plenty of height for the CPU cooler and graphics card, of 18 cm; while you can use a graphics card up to 46 cm in length. The top- and front-panels each give you enough room for a radiator as big as 420 mm. Besides eight conventional add-on card slots, you get three vertical ones.

The GM3-Moon is a more compact mid-tower, measuring 485 mm x 225 mm x 392 mm, which opens up room for up to 34 cm long graphics cards, and up to 17.5 cm tall CPU coolers. You can mount a 360 mm radiator along the front-panel, and a radiator as large as 280 mm along the top panel. The GM1 Transform has a design novelty where its front-panel cover slides sideways to reveal a mesh intake. Don't want all those front fans glaring at you? Simply pull up the opaque front-panel. This mid-tower gives you room for graphics cards up to 35.5 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 16 cm in height, and no vertical slots. It comes in white and black color options.

Inaugurating model of the series is the Shadow Base 800, which comes in three flavors: standard, DX, and FX. The standard edition is just a regular case without flashy RGB; the DX model has an RGB strip, while the FX model is tailored for maximum RGB illumination across the case. With up to E-ATX motherboard support, the case supports three or four 140 mm fans, depending on the variant. You can see the specification sheet below.

Streacom Redesigning the PSU SFX Form-factor with ZS800

Streacom unveiled a rather interesting power supply unit at its Computex 2023 showcase, the 800 W ZS800. While it might look a bit strange, Streacom's reasons behind such a product makes sense, considering it started as a project to create a "better" power supply for SFF builds, leading to what you can see in these pictures below.

According to Streacom, the biggest improvement to be done were on the cables, namely the 24-pin ATX cable which is bulky and quite difficult to handle, especially in tight SFF cases. The breakthrough came with the announcement of Intel's ATX12VO specification (12 V-only) and since Streacom has experience with compact DC to DC ATX converters, this led to reduced number of pins for the 24-pin cable, at least on the PSU side, as it still needs a 24-pin adapter for the motherboard. Such a hybrid solution also means that the ZS800 is actually both ATX 3.0 and ATX12VO compatible.
