Age of Wonders 4 Gets a Bunch of Hotfixes on PC

Paradox Interactive states: "To my fellow Godir. First off, we want to thank you for the awesome release! It's been amazing seeing so many of you finally getting your hands on the game. Many of you have been able to enjoy the game as we intended but there have been difficulties along the way. Over the past few days we've been hard at work to address the most common issues that have popped up. The people on the Hotfix branch have been incredibly helpful in tracking down the Graphics Driver issues and we're now confident in rolling out the fixes at large."

For users with the NVIDIA Graphics cards defined below, that have experienced frequent crashes, we have added a Driver Workaround setting. This setting will be automatically enabled for the affected users and should alleviate the most commonly experienced crashes. May your Pantheons Thrive

Star Trek: Resurgence Launch Date Confirmed, Developer Dramatic Labs Apologizes for Delays

Dramatic Labs answers your questions: "Where have we been? We know we've been quiet at times since we announced Star Trek: Resurgence at The Game Awards in December… 2021. You can rest assured we never stopped working on the game, but obviously we all expected it to be released by now. So why the delays? The short answer is because we are a relatively small development team, making a pretty big game, and that has been keeping us very busy! As you might know, we had initially hoped to have the game out in "Spring 2022," but it is now "Spring 2023."

What happened? Honestly, our initial target was just too aggressive. We were very excited to get Star Trek: Resurgence to everyone as fast as we could, but this is our first game as Dramatic Labs, and our first game built with the Unreal Engine. And along the way it became clear the game wouldn't be what we wanted if we kept that release window. We considered trying to hit the holiday season for 2022, but we decided that, if we were going to change the date, we should do it to make the best game we could. Not to meet some arbitrary marketing timeline. That's why we reset for a Spring 2023 release and now we're excited to finally announce a date: May 23, 2023!

Ubisoft Bringing Far Cry 6 to Steam Next Month, Breaks Timed Exclusive Status for More Games

Ubisoft is slowly migrating availability of its flagship games over to the Steam store, and gaming fans will be happy to find out about this move. A lot of the French video game publisher's popular titles (on PC) have been locked to their own Connect service and the Epic Games Store. Far Cry-series fans on the PC platform having been shouting and complaining about one particular entry being tied to the pair of e-shops since launching back in October 2021. That timed deal between Ubisoft and Epic Games is soon to expire, and Far Cry 6 will become available via Steam on May 11.

Ubisoft implemented a reversal of releasing games on Steam back in 2019, a decision that attracted almost instant negative feedback from PC Gamers. The Division 2 was announced as being the 2019 headliner for release on Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store, and (at the time) other upcoming titles would follow the same path. Murmurs of a possible return to Steam emerged in late 2022, and shortly thereafter Ubisoft proceeded to rollout big franchise titles on that platform, including Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising. The latest batch to get the Steam store release day treatment are (the aforementioned) Far Cry 6 on May 11th, Riders Republic on June 8th, Rainbow Six Extraction on June 15th, and finally Monopoly Madness on June 22nd.

Alan Wake Remastered Interview with d3t and Remedy Entertainment

Alan Wake Remastered brings the magic of Alan Wake back in a gorgeous-looking AAA title for this generation. Much like other smash-hit personality-based action titles by Remedy Entertainment, such as Max Payne (of the old), Quantum Break, and Control; Alan Wake is as much a literary experience as it is a challenging action game. You play as title character Alan Wake, a writer struggling with writer's block, out on holiday in the Pacific Northwest with his wife. Following her mysterious disappearance, Wake finds events from his unfinished novel coming to life, including its many horrors.

When it came out in Spring 2012, Alan Wake—then exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Windows PC—was already considered path-breaking in terms of its visual splendour, however, it was limited to the technology of the time, and more importantly, to just a couple of platforms. Remedy Entertainment decided to wipe the dust off the title, and remaster it for the current generation. Developing this is game studio d3t, while Epic Games is the publisher, who very kindly gave us a chance to interact with Andy Booth, Studio Technical Director, d3t, and Thomas Puha, Communications Director of Remedy Entertainment, on the technical aspects of the remaster. Boy did we learn a lot.

Epic Games Store Keeps Losing Money, Expected Unprofitable Until 2027, Even with a Massive $500 Million Investment Behind It

Epic Games Store, one of the many products of the Epic Games company, is the current number one contender of Steam game store, which used to be Valve's monopoly in the gaming market. Having another contender is nice and competition is always welcome, however, it doesn't seem like running a games store is a cheap venture. In the recent legal dispute between Apple and Epic in California state, we have discovered some interesting details about Epic Games Store (EGS) and its financial background. According to the documents appearing in the court, EGS is not considered profitable until 2027, at least.

Apple has told the court that "Epic lost around $181 million on EGS in 2019. Epic is projected to lose around $273 million on EGS in 2020. Indeed, Epic committed $444 million in minimum guarantees for 2020 alone, while projecting, even with 'significant' growth, only $401 million in revenue for that year. Epic acknowledges that trend will continue in the immediate future: Epic projects to lose around $139 million in 2021." This information shows that Epic has sunk a lot of cash in the store, however, the company expects EGS to become profitable at some point, where the original investment will be returned.
