During the annual awards show, a first look at gameplay was premiered in a new Official Reveal trailer showcasing Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) as a stronger and more experienced Jedi Knight while setting up the threats that await him. The veteran team at Respawn Entertainment is developing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for the latest generation of gaming hardware to deliver action-packed Jedi combat with the deepest exploration and cinematic gameplay in the series.

2K and Marvel Entertainment announced that Marvel's Midnight Suns is now available worldwide on Windows PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S. Remedy Entertainment ("Remedy") has signed an agreement with 505 Games, an international video game publisher and a subsidiary of Digital Bros Group, under which Remedy and 505 Games will co-develop and co-publish Control 2 (formerly known as Codename Heron), a sequel to Remedy's award-winning game Control.

Control 2's initial development budget amounts to EUR 50 million, and Remedy will retain the ownership of the game's intellectual property. The development, marketing, and post-launch investments as well as the future net revenues generated by the game will be equally split between 505 Games and Remedy. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it will be built on Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine and tools. Remedy will publish the game on the PC platform and 505 Games will publish it on the console platforms. The project is currently in concept stage.

Sony has finally revealed the pricing for its upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset and for those interested in getting one, we really hope you've saved up, as the headset costs more than a PlayStation 5 console. The headset will only launch on the 22nd of February 2023, but Sony will start taking pre-orders later this month and you're going to have to cough up $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980 depending on where you live to get your hands on one. For the money, you get the PS VR2 headset, the PS VR2 Sense controllers and a set of undisclosed stereo headphones. Sony will also offer a bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain, which will retail for $599.99 / €649.99 / £569.99 / ¥79,980.

In addition to the headset, Sony will also offer a charging station for the controllers, which comes in at $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 / ¥5,480. The controllers would otherwise charge via USB-C. The PS VR2 also uses USB-C to connect to the PS5 console. The PS VR2 offers 2000 x 2040 pixels resolution per eye, using OLED displays that are capable of 90 and 120 Hz refresh rate. The headset also sports four cameras for headset and controller tracking, as well as an IR camera for each eye, for eye tracking. The eye tracking hardware is made by Swedish Tobii, which is a company that specialises in eye tracking solutions. Sony also announced 11 new PS VR2 games, which among others include Switchback VR, Cities VR - Enhanced Edition, Crossfire: Sierra Squad and The Light Brigade.

So you live in Randomville in the middle of nowhere, with a slow ADSL that's barely a few Mbps fast, and thought you could enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on PlayStation 5 with its disc version? Think again. It turns out that the disc version of this game doesn't actually have the game on the disc. That's right, those unlucky enough to buy the disc version found that it only contained 72 MB of data, which when autorun, gets the console to fetch the up to 151 GB of the game's payload over the Internet. The disc only acts like a hardware DRM, in the same way as certain expensive software ship with USB flash drives that need to be plugged in for you to use the software.

After enduring the massive download, you're required to keep the disc inserted to play the game. It is possible to ship the entire game in two 50 GB Blu-ray discs with the best available compression tech. The problem with CoD off-late has been that the developers either forgot how to distribute game patches, or are using the sheer file-size of patches as an anti-piracy measure; with most of them spanning several dozen gigabytes, and major updates even fetching the entire game's triple-figure GB payload all over again. This 72 MB disc-based distribution is below the belt.

Warner Bros. Games and DC today announced that Gotham Knights, the new open-world, third-person action RPG (role-playing game), is now available for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S and PC and is playable either solo or as a two-player online cooperative (co-op) experience.

Developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal, Gotham Knights features Batman Family characters - Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin - a new guard of highly trained DC Super Heroes who must rise up as the protectors of an increasingly vulnerable Gotham City in the wake of Batman's death. The latest CFI-1202 series hardware revisions of the Sony PlayStation 5 entertainment system receive new "Oberon Plus" SoCs built on the TSMC N6 (6 nm) silicon fabrication node, and could include several new power-management features of the kind seen in AMD Ryzen 6000 mobile-processors, which could bring down the overall weight of the console as it could shed anywhere between 200-300 grams (6.25-6.5 percent) compared to older 2021 models. The CFI-1202B is the Digital-only variant that lacks an optical drive; while the CFI-1202A is the slightly heavier model that comes with a Blu-ray ROM drive. The 6% reduction in weight may not seem like much to the end-user, but has a cumulative effect for Sony to ship them by the thousands.

Today, Electronic Arts Inc. and KOEI TECMO officially unveiled WILD HEARTS, a new kind of hunting game featuring unique crafting mechanics, coming February 17, 2023 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Origin, Steam and Epic Game Store. Published under the EA Originals label and developed by Omega Force, the team behind the popular WARRIORS series, WILD HEARTSwhisks players away on an epic adventure set in fantasy feudal Japan. There, they'll battle against giant nature-infused beasts called Kemono with the help of Karakuri, sophisticated mechanisms crafted from a lost, ancient technology.

An upcoming hardware revision of the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) that's slated for 2024, reportedly unifies the two current models that the console comes in—one with a Blu-ray drive, and one without. The PS5 currently comes in a model with an optical drive that's popular in markets with slow Internet connections, and targets those who prefer physical copies of their games; while another model completely lacks an optical drive, and is available in markets with fast Internet access, and for those who keep digital libraries of the games they bought.

The 2024 revision would unify the two designs, and feature a modular form-factor, where the optical drive can be optionally purchased (or is part of bundles). This drive slots into the console's body, and connects to it via a 5 Gbps USB-C connection. This way, Sony saves on costs from having to do separate production runs for the two models, and earn some revenue on the ODD. The current digital-only PS5 model comes with a firmware-level restriction that prevents you from plugging in aftermarket USB Blu-ray drives, or even connecting one to its mainboard's SATA interface.
