GIGABYTE Releases Statement on GP-P850GM & GP-P750GM PSUs

GIGABYTE is aware of certain media outfits casting doubt over the quality of Power Supply models GP-P850GM and GP-P750GM. GIGABYTE takes pride in the design and quality of our products and as such, takes reports of this manner extremely seriously and therefore would like to address the reported potential issues as follows:

For desktop PC systems, there can occasionally be instances where the peak wattage can exceed the intended usage range. During such instances, the GIGABYTE GP-P850GM / GP-P750GM model power supplies include the industry standard built-in safety feature "Over Power Protection" (OPP). The OPP safety feature is designed to shut down the unit when the power load exceeds the wattage the unit was designed to operate within. SilentiumPC Presents the Innovative Fluctus 120 PWM Fan with Psychoacoustic Optimization

SilentiumPC, the European manufacturer of CPU coolers, Power Supply Units and PC cases, introduces the new Fluctus 120 PWM axial fan as a stand-alone product for the DIY market. The Fluctus 120 PWM fan is co-developed with Synergy Cooling and features high static pressure, very good airflow and excellent acoustics. It provides outstanding performance on dense water cooling radiators and in cases that are equipped with dust filters. A revamped, durable fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) with 100.000-hour MTBF ensures high longevity, underlined by the 6-year manufacturer's warranty.

SilentiumPC Fluctus 120 PWM is equipped with a unique 9-bladed rotor with serrated leading edges. It provides high static pressure, which is required for creating good airflow through dense radiators of all-in-one water coolers. Users can expect a 1 to 3 °C reduction in temperatures compared to other fans commonly paired with AIO liquid coolers. In addition to that, the overall noise levels are decreased. Thanks to the wide speed regulation range from 300 (±100) to 1.800 (±10%) rpm makes Fluctus 120 PWM a perfect match for both bigger (360 mm) and smaller (240 mm, 120 mm) radiators, which usually requires higher fan speeds.

Thermaltake Announces Toughpower TF1 1550W Titanium - TT Premium Edition Power Supply

Thermaltake, the leading PC DIY premium brand for Cooling, Gaming Gear, and Enthusiast Memory solutions, is excited to release a new power supply to the market - Toughpower TF1 1550 W Titanium - TT Premium Edition. The Turbo fan increases the airflow intake and ramps the fan up to 2400±10% RPM; users can simply switch on the button for additional cooling when the PSU is at full load.

Secondly, a strict standard of the transient response is set with 12 V < 1 %, 5 V< 3%, and 3.3 V < 5% to guarantee a constant output in response to load changes and avoids output voltage deviation causing damage to subsequent equipment malfunction. Thirdly, the inrush current is controlled to not exceed 50 Ampere making sure PSU components will not suffer from the massive power output. Additionally, a 12 V OCP protection is covered to give extra support preventing the hard drives from malfunction and damage. Last but not least, there is an extra 24 pin jumper attached to provide electricity to the graphics card without connecting to the motherboard. The jumper brings more convenience and flexibility that users can configure the layout of their system in a desired way.

Eurocom Releases 780W Adapter for Mobile Workstations

Eurocom aims to eliminate energy bottlenecks in high performance laptops with a single AC adapter, offers 780-Watt power supply for the laptop industry. In the not-so-distant past, laptops and small form factor pc's were stuck in the middle ground of technology between smart phones and desktops when it came to portability, power and performance. Laptops were not as portable as smart phones and were heavily under-powered compared to common desktop PC's. As a result, laptops were not considered powerful enough to take on more intensive tasks and processes.

However, over the last half decade, laptops and small form factor PCs have closed the gap between desktop PCs in terms of power and performance. Due to many technological leaps and innovations over the years, laptops across different price points are able to come very close to matching the compute power of modern day desktop PCs. Laptops are now trusted with handling highly intensive tasks and are relied upon by users who benefit from having a less bulky and more portable computer that provides incredible performance on the go.

POWER-SUPPLaY Cyberattack Steals Data From Air-Gapped PC via Power Supply

It was only a few weeks ago when we reported that Dr. Mordechai Guri and his team had devised a new cyberattack known as Air-ViBeR which could use the vibrations of a PC's fans to steal data by regulating fan speed and recording the sounds on a nearby smartphone. This time Dr. Mordechai and his team have discovered a way to silently transmit data from the ultrasonic frequencies put out by a PC power supply they have dubbed this new attack POWER-SUPPLaY. The cyberattack involves a piece of malware that can alter system load by changing the CPU workload, this causes the PC power supply to change its ultrasonic frequencies which can be detected by a smartphone at a maximum distance of 5 m.

While this cyberattack is certainly technologically impressive, it is unlikely to ever be used out of anything but a Hollywood movie due to some fatal limitations. The attack requires the computer to be compromised and for a mobile device to be within listening distance for a prolonged time, the transmission rate of the attack is only 50 bits per second, or equivalent to about 22.5 kB per hour. With such a low transmission rate the only data that could be feasibly transmitted would be plain text at a rate of 10,000 words an hour.

Seasonic Rolls Out its First Connect 750W Power Supply

Way back in Computex 2019, Seasonic showed us the Connect, a concept PC power-supply that greatly de-clutters your build's power cabling spaghetti by introducing the Connect device. This is essentially a power connector spinal back-plane that runs along the height of your tower, with shorter cables emerging from it. The company announced the product's market release with a 750-Watt model, the SSR-750FA. The contraption connects to the main unit through fewer, high-gauge cables.

The business-end of the Seasonic Connect SSR-750FA is a slightly modified Prime 750 W, which is just 14 cm long, and has just the high-gauge cable emerging from it, which leads to the Connect module. Under the hood, the Prime 750 W offers single +12V rail design, 80 Plus Gold efficiency, DC to DC switching, most common electrical protection mechanisms, and a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan to keep cool. Downstream connectivity of the SSR-750FA include a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, four 6+2 pin PCIe power, 8-10 SATA power, and up to three 4-pin Molex. Seasonic is backing this PSU with a 10-year warranty.
