Sony Electronics Unveils WF-1000XM5 Truly Wireless Earbuds "For The Music"

Sony Electronics Inc. today announced the WF-1000XM5 earbuds - the latest truly wireless model of the award-winning 1000X series. This new model offers the Best Noise Canceling by reducing external noise over a wide bandwidth, from low to high frequencies so you can focus on your music. Following its predecessor, the WF-1000XM4, the WF-1000XM5 raises industry standards with astonishing sound and Sony's best ever call quality, despite a smaller and lighter design.

The WF-1000XM5 earbuds deliver cutting-edge technology and premium sound quality with the best noise-canceling performance. Real-time audio processors and high-performance mics power the specially designed driver unit, Dynamic Driver X, for wide frequency reproduction, deep bass, and more detailed vocals.

Sony WF-1000XM5's Charging Case Info Revealed by Database

Renders and basic specifications for Sony's rumored WF-1000XM4 successor were leaked earlier this month, with some sources theorizing that Sony would be unveiling the next-generation TWS earbuds within days. An official announcement did not come to pass, but details and a (top-down view) photo of the WF-1000XM5's charging case have emerged from an independent testing database—the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Tipsters reckon that the WF-1000XM5 buds will be smaller and lighter than predecessors—perhaps closer in size to Sony's cheaper TWS offering, the WF-C700N—and leaked specifications indicate that the new model is not a massive departure from the XM4, although multi-point connectivity looks to be standard at launch.

The WPC's online certification page lists model number YY2963, which is identical to an FCC registration from February. The June 9th entry states that it is a "wireless stereo headset," with a carry/charging case classed as a "Power Class 0 Receiver" offering 2 W maximum input. A low quality photo of this earbud cradle is included on the WPC web page—Sony's new unit looks almost identical to the WF-1000XM4 enclosure. Qi wireless charging is very likely part of the package, but the next-gen solution might not be much of an upgrade. Insiders have reassessed the situation, and now propose that Sony is planning on a July or August reveal for the the 1000XM5.

Creative Announces the Zen Air True Wireless Earphones

Creative Technology today announced the launch of the Creative Zen Air, sporting a new stick-shaped earbud design with a pocket-friendly charging case that is both stylish and lightweight. These true wireless earbuds can also do more than just rack up style points, it comes with nifty noise control features such as Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Mode for a seamless listening experience. Despite its compact form factor, the Creative Zen Air can deliver a total playtime of up to 18 hours and up to 6 hours of playtime on a single charge to keep the music pumping all day long. Coupled with 10 mm Neodymium drivers, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a certified IPX4 sweat-proof rating, the Creative Zen Air truly stands out as the ideal true wireless earbuds fit for every pocket.

Creative Zen Air offers users a better listening experience with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can help filter out unwanted background noises so users can stay focused - be it at the office during an important conference call or listening to their favorite beats on the go without any interruptions. With a simple tap of the earbuds, users can easily switch to the Ambient Mode to let just the right amount of surrounding sound in, which works perfectly when running errands or while hiking on a busy trail.

Creative Announces Sensemore Air True Wireless Earbuds

Creative Technology today launched Creative Sensemore Air, its latest high-performance true wireless earbuds which allow users to hear more of their surroundings than ever before, without compromising on audio quality. The new Sensemore technology helps to address the oft-annoying inconvenience associated with earbuds - because they are in-ear and block out much of the aural environment, users tend to remove their earbuds in various everyday situations, for example when starting a conversation. This changes with the Creative Sensemore Air, as users are given full control on the level of environmental sounds they want to hear. With Sensemore Mode, which is 5 times more sensitive than Ambient Mode, users can hear much more of speech, and other environmental elements, which are amplified with higher clarity. As a bonus, when set to a higher intensity, it could even benefit folks with mild hearing deficiencies.

The Ambient Mode can be used when users would like to hear their music well while still being aware of the environment, for example while jogging along a busy street. Conversely, to shut the world out so as to fully immerse in the music, users can rely on the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) Mode. The intensity of all 3 modes is fully adjustable through the handy Creative app.

1MORE Introduces Aero, Its First Spatial Audio Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation

1MORE, a globally distributed premium consumer audio company, announces an exciting new addition to its True Wireless earbuds range with the release of the 1MORE Aero. The Aero is one of only a select handful of earbuds offering a new listening experience with the inclusion of Spatial Audio; a dynamic head-tracking technology via a built-in gyroscope allowing the user to venture into immersion. Along with the ability to detect the listener's head movements in real time, the Aero comes complete with 1MORE's wide frequency QuietMax active noise-canceling (ANC) technology that provides up to 42dB of noise-canceling depth at a wider than normal range of frequencies from 40 Hz up to 4000 Hz, meaning the 1MORE Aero can block out more of the ambient noise whether it be the roar from the in-flight engines to the hustle & bustle of traditional city life. Furthermore, the Aero introduces the Smart Loudness Technology, which can provide a richer, more complete listening experience even at lower volumes with AI automatically compensating for many of the missing details both at high & low frequencies. The result is a punchier, much more resonant sound, for $109.99.

Featuring 10 mm drivers alongside diamond-like-carbon diaphragm for both an impactful bass and scintillating acoustic highs, the 1MORE Aero can also cater to all music genres thanks to 12 studio-grade EQ presets via the 1MORE MUSIC App. Like all of 1MORE's headphones, the Aero is already precisely tuned and balanced by Luca Bignardi - 1MORE's famed in-house 4-time Grammy award-winning sound engineer. The Aero offers 28-hours of playback and a 15-minute Quick Charge feature that allows the Aero to gain back 3-hours of playtime. The 1MORE Aero also features Qi technology for effortless wireless charging. The Aero also supports the latest Dual-Device connectivity, allowing for a simultaneous connection of two separate devices that the user can seamlessly switch between.

USB-C Chargers Are the Future: European Union Signs Common Charging Standard Into Law

From 2024, all mobile devices in the European Union will have to use USB-C as the standard charging port, courtesy of a new law that was passed by the European Parliament. This means that mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones and headsets, handheld videogame consoles and portable speakers, e-readers, keyboards, mice, portable navigation systems and earbuds, all have to sport a USB-C port for charging in the near future. Many of these devices already do, with the main exception being Apple, although many lower-end devices still rely on micro USB, due to the lower cost. The European Parliament voted 602 in favour of the new law, with only 13 parliamentarians being against and eight that abstained, which shows that most EU nations were in favour of the move.

From 2026, laptops which adhere to the USB PD 3.0 standard, i.e. up to 100 Watts, will be required to charge via USB-C as well. As such, it seems like the EU didn't enforce support for USB PD 3.1, which goes up to 240 Watts. The EU is also planning on enforcing a common wireless charging standard, which is expected to come into effect by the end of 2024. It's not clear which standard will be chosen, but it's highly likely to be the Qi standard, as it's the most commonly used wireless charging standard.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 Leak Courtesy of Lufthansa

It's not every day new hardware, or as in this case, new TWS earbuds, are leaked by an airline, but in this case, Lufthansa has jumped the gun and leaked the upcoming Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds. This happened courtesy of the airline's WorldShop website, although by now the product listings have been removed. However, courtesy of several publications online picking up on the leak, we now know what to expect from Sennheisers next generation of TWS buds.

Designwise the changes are fairly minor, with the most noticeable changes being in the addition of a graphite colour option, with black and white still sticking around. The charging case now supports the Qi wireless charging standard, which should appeal to some potential customers. Battery life for the earbuds remains at 7 hours, with a further 28 hours or four additional charges provided by the charging case. It takes about 90 minutes to charge the earbuds in the charging case, which also sports a USB-C port. The earbuds have support for Bluetooth 5.2, but there's no mention of Bluetooth LE audio support. On the other hand, SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive are supported. The Momentum 3's also supports hybrid adaptive ANC with four microphones per earbud, which should be a step up over the previous generation. The Momentum True Wireless 3 are said to launch later this month and the MSRP should be around €249 or around $275.

Wall Street Canyon is Intel's Upcoming Alder Lake-P Powered NUC

Pictures and details of Intel's next NUC, that goes under the codename Wall Street Canyon has made its way onto the internet and besides the expected upgrade to Intel's 12th generation of Core processors, there aren't any huge changes, but there are at least a few interesting differences. The most obvious one being that Wall Street Canyon has two USB-A 3.2 (10 Gbps) ports around the front, instead of one USB-A and one Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port around the front of the current model. It's not clear if this is due to a technical limitation of Thunderbolt 4, or if Intel decided it was more useful to keep the two Thunderbolt ports around the back for most of its potential customers. Regardless, this is where the two Thunderbolt 4 ports now reside, alongside two HDMI 2.0b ports, with the mini-DP port having been dropped altogether.

Other connectivity options include 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, a USB-A 3.2 (10 Gbps) and a USB 2.0 port around the back, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack around the front. The Wall Street Canyon NUC is also said to have models with Qi charging for mobile devices. As far as CPU choices go, the base model should be an Intel Core i3-1220P, ranging to the top model with a Core i7-1270P, or in other words, most of the 28 W TDP Alder Lake-P processors. Wall Street Canyon has space for one internal 2.5-inch drive, as well as a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD, a shorter M.2 2260 slot for a SATA based drive and an Intel AX211 WiFi and Bluetooth module. The two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots support memory speeds of up to 3200 MHz. No word on pricing as yet, but we'd expect the pricing to be similar, if not slightly higher than the current models

Marvell Introduces Industry's First 800G Multimode Electro-Optics Platform for Cloud Data Centers

Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today announced the industry's first 800 Gbps or 8x 100 Gbps multimode platform solution, that enables data center infrastructure to achieve dramatically higher speeds for short-reach optical modules and Active Optical Cable (AOC) applications.
