AQIRYS Alnair Review

Introduction

AQIRYS Logo

AQIRYS recently announced its first wireless gaming headset, dubbed the Alnair. Priced at $100/€110 and available in black or white color options, the Alnair brings some notable new features to the overcrowded gaming headset market, such as hybrid active noise canceling technology, along with everything else we expect from modern wireless gaming headsets, such as dual simultaneous wireless connectivity. Meaning, the Alnair communicates with the supplied 2.4 GHz USB-C wireless dongle and your Bluetooth source of choice at the same time, so you can, for example, play your favorite game and answer phone calls seamlessly, without having to manually switch between your PC/console and phone.

The AQIRYS Alnair further expands its connectivity with a 3.5 mm analog port, so you can combine it with pretty much any device you might own. It also offers a detachable omnidirectional TeamSpeak-certified microphone, an RGB lighting system, and an integrated 800 mAh battery, which should, according to the official specifications, provide us with up to 50 hours of wireless usage. AQIRYS bundles it with all cables and adapters you could possibly need, and they even throw in a pair of cat ears, if that's the aesthetic you're going for.

The Package

With its fairly large, sturdy, richly painted box, the AQIRYS Alnair is presented like a high-end gaming headset. The box depicts the headset from all sides and goes over its parts, key features, and technical specifications in multiple languages. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the packaging, as it easily surpasses products twice as expensive.

Inside the box, you'll find a neatly packed headset, a soft carrying pouch, a user manual, and various accessories. They include a USB-C Wi-Fi dongle, a USB-C to USB Type-A adapter cable, a USB-C charging cable, an audio cable with an in-line remote control, and an audio splitter cable needed to establish an analog connection with devices that use a separate headphone output and microphone input. There's even a pair of rubber cat ears, which you can attach to the headband to add some intrigue to your next Zoom meeting.
