Air-cooling specialist Thermalright is readying a VGA cooler that makes use of a 140 mm fan, and uses no less than eight 6 mm thick heat pipes to convey heat to a large aluminum fin array. The Shaman from Thermalright uses a large rectangular base from which eight heat pipes twist their way to the heatsink. Shaman supports nearly all high-end GPUs in the market, including GeForce GTX 480, GTX 470, GTX 465, GTX 460, Radeon HD 5800 series, Radeon HD 5700, and upcoming Radeon HD 6800 series as well as HD 6700 series. Bundled with this is a TY-140 fan, which spins between 900~1300 rpm, with a noise output of 21 dBA.

I was looking forward to water cooling my next gpu but after taking a look at this i think i may be holding off another year, the zalman vf1000 has been very good to me with my fan setup and as long as this fits my next gpu (no idea what it will be yet) then im sure this will be even better to my fan setup, plus my gpu being the only card in my system means it could block every slot and it not be a problem :D

I think it looks like 3 slots at most.

Thats good because the 5770 isnt supported by a lot of coolers.

Unless you place a slim Scythe fan on it... Lower CFM but takes less space and are generally more silent.

but still im very excited for this as i have a ducting fan and ducting attached to my vf1000 to move the heat out of this tiny computer room (more like closet :laugh:) so something like this would be perfect and easly open my options up to include the 480 as before now heat was a major concern

Err.. if you look at the end of the video where it's installed inside a PC, the cooler and fan takes up 4 slots plus you need one more for air.

No need to correct, you're absolutely right. Best offer until now was Thermalright's own HR-03. Other than that, there were very very few compatible coolers.

Agreed Saqsui so I guess it is up to us to either purchase Thermalright heatinks for the VRM/RAM areas. I do like the cooler though and I would love to replace the DK cooler on my 4870.

Good thing I only need or use 1 graphics card lol.

Probably isn't. Thermalright usually needs higher RPM fans to be effective and with S1 one could use two very low rpm fans instead of one faster.

I hope arctic makes a new version of S1 so that it works with more cards.

That's a beast. Heck, if you have a fan on the side of your case that blows close to the VGA a fan on top may not be needed.

Amazing how these people thought and designed it out of the mental box others have. There is room for this in most cases so why not use it???????? CONGRATS Tt !!!!

Looks kinda crude for a Thermalright product.

I hope the retail product will have more polish to it, so to speak.

My MSI GTX 465 Golden Edition cooler definitely better from this...

either way i still think the Gigabyte stock 460 cooler is great for its size wonder how they compare
