Diablo 3 Open Beta Weekend Starts Today

Today Shacknews is reporting that Diablo III will be open to the public for beta testing. The open beta weekend begins this afternoon at 12:01pm Pacific, then will run until 10:00am on Monday, Blizzard explains in a Diablo blog post. All you need to play is a Battle.net account. You can download the client in advance, so you don't miss a second. The beta is relatively small, packing the first part of Diablo III's first act, but you will be playing Diablo III. Unlike proper closed beta testers, open beta players won't receive 'Beta Bucks' to spend in the auction house and cannot post in the beta forums.

Diablo III launches for PC and Mac on May 15. The closed beta test will wrap up on May 1.

Static~ChargeIn other words: make a disk image of your system before installing the beta, and back up your data files periodically. If the beta does mangle your setup, you can restore it back to the way it was.
Thats a lot of effort to play a game I have minor intrest in.

no one cares if you play it TMM. You and your elitist "true betas." Why even bother posting the story if all you are going to do is whine/troll about how much you aren't going to be playing it.

He didn't write anything about it in the story so it's a-ok with me. :D

What I can't state an opinion unless its a popular one?

Exactly. News is news. My opinion is mine. I would never post my personal opinion in a new article. That's retarded and immature.

TheMailMan78Most open betas are demos.
What do you think we're dealing with here? This is going to be a "beta," in the same sense that the BF3 open beta was a "beta." Prepare to be told to "shut up and sit down because this is a three week old build and the developers are already aware of all of the issues." And then be prepared to still have that exact same problem three months after release.

This is going to be the perfect game for my girlfriend and I. Can't wait ^^

We were originally going to buy Res Evil: Operation Raccoon City to get our coop fix, but this is 1000000000x better.

After 2 days of playing Diablo 3. I have to say Runic Game's Torchlight was more refreshing.
There are so many annoying things that are conservatively retained from previous Diablos.
The item management is one, It does not even sort itself out, it still has a 1 and 2 slot system. The items are not clearly highlighted when dropped, and you can't manually highlight it.
The Torchlight pet system is so much cooler as you can ask the pet to go back to town and sell items while you continue to charge into enemy territory.
The theme is still dark and quite difficult to see. Why? I know it is meant to be "EVIL" but no need to hide so much. Torchlight has the same theme but they made it look more refreshing.
The camera is completely restricted! WHY? The way they've restricted the camera, it is no different from a 2D scrolling game. I think this is the most unforgivable restriction.
Why multiplay coop is restricted to a max of 4 players only?

Those complaints aside. The skill tree has been overhauled, now there is no need to commit into a skill as you can swap around anytime. This is a great thing.
My fav character is the monk. Great hands on attack, flash like instant travel and healing ability.
Finally, Blizzard deliberately limit the leveling up to 13. Kinda expected.

The beta is not even the tip of the iceberg. So much more to see, hardcore mode, a lot more kinds of items, mobs, skills...

This is one of the upsides imo. Why would you want to move around the camera all the time?

I can definitively see that you are NOT an old school Diablo player...The game graphics so far is EXACTLY how a Diablo game should be , to bad they ruined the nice skill tree from D2...

Torchlight 2. All. Day. Long.

We'll ignore all the previously posted issues with Blizz and D3.

I tried Torchlight and was not impressed at all. Felt exactly like Diablo 2 but not as good.
