Cooler Master Releases HAF XB

Cooler Master, an industry leading chassis, thermal solution, peripheral, and accessory manufacturer today unveils the LAN box that takes the form to a whole new height, HAF XB. Packing full ATX motherboard support, modular features, portability, and excellent cooling, HAF XB comes in as the LAN box to beat.

HAF XB takes an innovative diversion from the form factor of its High Air Flow (HAF) brethren. It comes in a LAN box form that pushes the boundaries of size for this category. Ensuring that it continues the tradition of its namesake, HAF XB supports up to two 120mm fans in the front, a large 200mm in the top, and a 120mm and two 80mm fans in the rear. Strategically placed cable tie areas occupy cable routing zones to assist in keeping cable clutter to a minimum and provide a clean look with minimal effort. Steel reinforced handles on the side panels make traveling between LANs and other gaming destinations a far less stressful venture.
Geared for Enthusiasts & Overclockers
Built to be attuned with the needs of enthusiasts and extreme overclockers alike, HAF XB transforms effortlessly between LAN box and Test Bench. To accomplish this, a simple removable motherboard tray design is included to make swapping hardware a headache-free experience. Removing the outer shell completes the transformation into a formidable test bench for any cooling need.

Users of all types will enjoy seven expansion slots that offer space for multiple graphics cards setups in NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFire to vastly expand the capabilities of a system. Those interested in loading up their mobile fortress can setup a large HDD or SSD array with support for up to six 2.5" drives. This includes dual X-Dock slots for mounting hot-swappable 3.5" or 2.5" drives. A rich front I/O panel offers access to two super speed USB 3.0 ports, 2 x USB 2.0, and audio in and out.

HAF XB, the ultimate combo LAN Box and Test Bench.
HAF XB will be available on November 12th, 2012 in the U.S. and November 26th, 2012 in the E.U. Price and availability may vary by region. Please direct all inquiries to your local Cooler Master Representative.

I like it - next ATX build I do may be in this XB. I like the dual levels with the DVD drives on the lower end so there's nothing hovering over the motherboard.

Can you fit a 240mm rad behind that front grille?

Yeah, but be warned, you can't use dual-GPU cards with a 240mm radiator installed in push/pull mode, even using slim 120mm (20mm depth) fans. I calculated that the case would have to be 3mm deeper to allow a Geforce 690 (279.4mm) to be installed along with a 38.3mm deep radiator with a 20mm (slim) fan mounted to it. The case has 334mm of clearance for video cards. If you can live with only using the front mounted fans to pull in air from outside the case and through the radiator, you can use a 240mm radiator along with dual-GPU cards.

Looks like a slim 240mm in Push-Pull with a pair of GTX690s
It's simple math that works only if the dimensions on all the parts I mentioned are accurate. Go to the mfg's websites to get them. I was using a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme 240mm rad in my example.
334mm (gpu clearance)
-279.4mm (Geforce 690 length)
-38.3mm (rad depth)
-20mm (fan depth)
= -3.7mm

I was wondering how long it would take manufacturers to finally make a case with this layout. I made a very similar case layout from scratch over six years ago! Check it out.

Holy shit! ...now I'm torn between this or the X/942. I'd go for both, but I barely have money to build ONE decent rig ATM, and not much room in any of my "homes"... will have to ponder on this...

The pricing looks delicious as well, half the price of the X (not counting special offers/discounts)... (theoretically) 385 RON for the XB vs 770 RON for the X (my country's currency). Only thing I don't understand is how on Earth are those handles practical in caring it, since it's so wide, 2 people?...

If your house gets burglarized and they steal your space heater, the crooks are going to have a real nice surprise when they turn on the space heater to realize it doesn't work!

Crook1: "The fans turn on, but no heat is coming out! And what are these strange plugs for?"
Crook2: "Hey stupid, this isn't a space heater! It's a PC!!!"
