Eurocom Preparing GT2xx SLI-Based Desktop Replacement Notebook

Desktop replacement laptop specialists Eurocom is said to be preparing the first mobile platform featuring a NVIDIA GT2xx-series (tenth generation NVIDIA GPU) multi-GPU graphics subsystem. The company's next-generation M980U Emperor already listed on the company website, is specified to hold two Gxx-class GPUs. The company can claim this to be the first mobile platform to even feature a Gxx GPU, let alone a multi-GPU setup.

In its report, GPU Café notes that with GT2xx based mobile GPUs planned for the later half of this year, one can expect the GPUs on the Eurocom notebook to be based on the GT215 GPU, a performance-class GPU that is expected to replace the G92 series GPUs. The GT215 will be built on the 40 nm manufacturing process, from which one can expect energy efficiency. The rest of the notebook's specifications include a Core 2 Extreme processor, and uses the NVIDIA MCP79xi SLI core-logic, 1920×1080 px HD display, up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory and 1.5 TB of storage. Incidentally, Eurocom is also one of the first desktop replacement vendors to be preparing an Intel Core i7-based notebook.

I hate desktop replacements, but some people love 'em. It's the people that use them as laptops (as in, on battery) and then complain that it doesn't last very long piss me off.

ok so we all already know they are renaming the G92 cards, 9800GTX is GT250, and 9800/8800GT is GT240.
This is just my guess, so dont hold me to it, but I dont think its going to be a powerhouse, like the GTX260-280, but probly more along the lines of a 9600/9800GT.

Because I can't take my pc to the navy.

laptops = cool = very expensive = easily outdated

computers = extra cool water cooling setups = not as expensive = upgradable

the GT 240 is the 9600GT, iirc, so a GT 215 is going to be fairly low end, 9400GT style.

Thank NVIDIA for the confusion. The GT215 is the codename of a graphics processor (like G92, G200), while the GeForce GT 240 is an SKU name (like 9800 GT, GTX 280).

The GT215 GPU is supposed to suceed G92.

I think it all depends. If you're moving between places alot and constantly need a computer with lots of power than a desktop replacement makes perfect sense. But, if you just leave it at home on the desk and never move it then it's kinda pointless. That's why I kinda wished I had gotten a desktop cause I like never actually move around with my laptop but I guess at college I can still use this laptop so it's w/e.

Thats exactly what people think a desktop replacement is though and use it instead of a desktop. I hate laptops personally, They depreciate in value very quickly, not upgradeable, pretty much fucked if anything breaks out of warrenty.
