personally i have never had a problem with ocuk, and never had a problem with a return.I sent back a 1950pro i killed with a bad flash, and got a new one back.Their prices ae a bit over other uk e-tailers though.

I will be interested to see how these do in real benchies, and let the early adopters be the guinea pigs.

Yeah OcUK are a bit of a hit & miss with Customer Service, I guess it's who you get and if they're having a good day. I guess any business can be like that. Anyway, like you said about benchies and the a-like.

I'm freaking gagging for reviews, it's only a matter of weeks before we start seeing our favourite sites reviewing them all. Wink wink TPU!

Which, in a way, begs the question why there isn't any conclusive reviews of it.

I'm sure they don't want to kill off their sales of c2d and c2q, since they have like a million sitting there.

BUT, there's also the benchies where the i7 fails and it may be quite embarrassing for it to lose by many percent to a barcelona slow poke.

I'm taking that review with a pinch of salt until the sites I know and love have reviewed them.

so do i, but this review make sense: multi-threaded applications, memory read/write, etc benefit while games not so much.

Fair enough, I just don't really trust sites that look like a school-kid designed it. I'm too used to my favourite sites.

I was figuring this was how it was going to be, but it's launch stuff...they almost gotta do it this way anymore lol...I guess they don't want everyone hopping over at once. I'm gonna wait till for quite a while, or as long as I can stand as I'm sure there will be bugs, sensor issues, etc that will happen. Not saying it's gonna be bunk, I'm sure it'll be great for those that do go for it tho! But I will be watching and waiting!

If they do, AMD will have a huge market to feed because I doubt they'll give up overclocking. I don't think Intel will either, they might try to play nanny, but eventually people will find ways around it...you can't stop the willing!

Very true, we'll just kind of have to watch and wait to see what happens! I'm eager to see some reviews on TPU myself, hopefully that comes around sooner than later. I'm sure it will, and eventually there'll be so much stuff out for the new goodies, things will get cheaper, and better pricing will be there for those of us on a tighter budget for sure!

Funny how there's all the talk of Bloomfield doing nothing for games and then suddenly Intel pulls these numbers out: 52% improvement in 3D gaming. Though looking at the review linked above, sounds like that's probably in 3DMark Vantage

Hmm, works for me. Well, here's the text of it:
According to some reviewers who had their hands on with the upcoming Bloomfield, the new CPU runs great. But how huge improvement it is comparing to today’s top dog?

In a recent document sent to partners, Intel pointed out that when comparing Core i7-965 to a QX9770, we can get 52% more 3D gaming performance, 38% more rendering performance and 41% more movie editing and conversion performance. (Core i7-965 platform: X58, DDR3 3G, Discrete VGA card, QX9770 platform unknown.)

Yes the numbers are quite vague, but it is directly coming from Intel, compare to a more expansive product, we can’t expect more. (QX9770>1450USD, Core i7-965=999USD)

We hardly do CPU reviews though, I recall only one. On the other hand, I don't read every single review. Perhaps I just missed many.
