No doubt.
If all the people on those planes had been ARMED, 9/11 would never have happened. At all.

And yet many willingly move like sheep to the slaughter by voting obama... You can't tax your way to prosperity. You can't eliminate poverty - people will always make stupid choices. And if you keep trying to protect them from themselves, ou will find it's as futile as the "war on drugs".

Poverty, believe it or not, is not always caused by stupid choices. Some need to excel more than others, and don't. Again, things aren't as black and white as many make them out to be. Even if one is poor of their own volition, they are in need of more aid than those who eat full meals every day and have numerous cars w/ which to drive around. Your right, you can't tax your way to prosperity, but you can eliminate poverty, but it can't be done w/o forgiveness, and it can't be done w/ greed. Human evolution and experience, it would seem, plays a greater role than politics.

if they could have brought guns on a plane guess who also would have them, it takes balls to fight back in that situation, balls most people don't have, guns wouldn't necessarily make it any safer

You can't eliminate poverty. It's a fact. Someone always has to be "at the bottom". No matter how high you move the bottom "quintile" upwards, there is always a bottom.

If someone chooses to do something stupid, they have no right to petition the government to take a part of my life (yes, my LIFE - I exchange my time and knowledge for money..) to aid them. IF I should choose to donate to a charity, and they benefit, that's great. But petitioning the state - who arguably hold abject power over all our lives - for a pinch of my wallet? That's immoral, unfair, and just plain wrong. Yet Obama encourages it. He says "we can all have healthcare, good jobs, clean air, pure water, angels in our attics, and dancing bears at our birthday parties, if only you'll elect me and let me sent the storm troopers into the bank accounts of those evil top 5%...

Lets see....
5 guys with knives vs unarmed people...

100 people all with guns (including the 5 guys, the pilots, etc...)

In cities with Open Carry and free "concieled carry" laws, crime is near 0.

In chicago, crime went UP when they outlawed guns, because the criminals knew that they had a free range of sheep to pick from.... Same in DC...

Well then perhaps we can at least redefine poverty, so it does not mean they can not reasonably sustain their life and "pursue happiness".

You fire one gun in a pressurized cabin and it can easily tear the airplane apart. This is pretty high altitude we are talking about. Please read more about the situation before making those judgments.:wtf:

BTW "Bigjohn" try to show some respect for others here. I don't go and insist that republicans would round up the blacks like the Jews in the Holocaust do I? Because it would be off the deep end, much like insisting that taxation would be stealing from the wealthy. The modern republican party was re-established when the parties did a serious switch of views over civil rights. And being civil is what this discussion is lacking, thanks to you currently.

Quit with the smearing. This should be about the issues/policies of each candidate. Obviously you haven't done enough research to debate this. If you have, please begin to.

If you check the documents from the us Bureau of Labor Statistics, you'll see that the MEDIAN income of the "poverty level" / bottom quintile of the US citizens/taxpayers, etc..., has increased more than the % rate of inflation since Regan...

Obama want's to reverse that...

Great.
Take all the spare money from the people who spend it to fuel our economy, and our economy will get better?? That's just whack.

Apparently you've not seen that DEBUNKED on mythbusters.

http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2004/01/mythbusters_explosive_decompre.html

At high Altitude. Not sitting on the ground.

Mythbusters didn't do it even in the air.

But if they did, I would agree. And it would be a great episode.

But even if you are right about that you would need an oxygen mask after the breach.

So a gun fight from your seat? Why not make the seats bullet proof, and that would make for a great action film.

they modified it so the air pressure differential was equal, but admittedly they ignored factors such as air speed and humidity.

oxygen percentage too, i hadnt though of that. I dont see how 'passing out' is related, as they were testing the damage (would everyone get sucked out, etc) - you have drop down masks for oxygen if needed.

They went to prove that the "decompression" would not happen.
Airlines could require "approved" ammunitions, as well... no teflon jacketed shells... perhaps even just lead flatheads and low grain loads...

Have you read the 37 pages? We've been extremely civil considering the topic...

as an outsider, i will say that this thread HAS been civil. most places i see where any politcal things are mentioned in the USA, it ends up locked with people banned.

Americans tend to get very, very emotional with their politics, and i dont really get why.

Its because of the nasty smear campaigns that constantly emit propaganda over the airwaves. Idiots except it as fact without fact checking. Then the ignorant get worse when the only thing they know is misinformation.

i sure as hell wouldnt fly on a plane if guns were allowed.
I've flown a few times, and theres always been one or two irrational people causing arguments, and if they had a gun or access to stealing someone elses gun, safety would be a major concern.
