just a quick question! my mate's computer has a ati 2400 pro and i am unclear about how good it is! what would you guys say is the nvidia equivalent? an 8500gt maybe?

to put it into perspective my old old 9250 almost beats 2400s in performance, certainly the memory bandwidth is the same, also my mobo's integrated graphics top it too.

I have a 2400 pro. It's not bad, certainly isn't very good for gaming.
It wasn't made for gaming either, it was made for multimedia. It's a very good card for dvd/ bluray playback and video encoding (or decoding, forget which one).
I'd certainly like to upgrade my gfx card though.

I wasn't really all that far out the 2400pro falls in between the 9550 and 9600 in benchmark charts and I said the 9250 was almost as good, well really it is.
