It's how fast the the graphics card is that will decide if the PCIe port becomes a bottleneck or not. The HD4870x2 have twice the power of a single HD4870, and therefore demands alot more of the PCIe port in use. I do infact believe, that the P35's 16x PCIe 1.1 port with lesser speccs and half the bandwidth of a 16x PCIe 2.0, becomes a bottleneck when paired with a HD4870x2.

I can not prove this, since I do not have all the hardware to test this, but every review I have seen so far with a HD4870x2 on a P35 motherboard scores alot worse compared to the reviews using x38/x48/P45. Some tests show little difference, but many of the tests shows severely crippled performance......

Sounds reasonable to me.....I'd also like to see 4 gig included or become the standard.

i have 2 of these cards in crossfire, and i'm having a problem with full screen in games. other than that i have run crysis in very high quality with full anti-aliasing and not a glitch. i'm very upset though because i can't play games like supreme commander to the fullest becasue you have to do extra to get a different view.

wizz first of all great review. I always like your reviews and have been a reader for sometime now but never registered. Figured it was about time i suppose.

But at the same time i gotta ask about your naysays about this product...

no native hdmi support...why is that considered a con? With DVI its a digital to digital transfer making HDMI native non issue and extremely irrelevant...

and was wondering about the overclocking, was AMD OVERDRIVE used?

that tool is simply the easiest thing to use on the planet...if not could you post if your still interested/have the card...

of how high you can clock stable wise gpu overclock using amd overdrive...

and do you think your test rig would gain any performance using something of a 'spider' setup ie amd chipset, amd cpu (2,3,4 core), ati card? ive seen tests that get about 5% increase from using that type of setup...

and thanks for your review it was great i wonder how long it took you to do all those tests...keep up the great work...

rue monster, very impressive results at high resolutions. I can't believe it, ati has made awesome work.

You need at minimum 24" lcd panel to use with.

THIS IS CROZZFAIAHHHHHH !!

just wondering if this could be my problem, i'm using 2 of these cards and i can't use fullscreen. could it be the fact that right now i only have a 22 inch monitor?
