Thermaltake Intros New Tube Like SpinQ Processor Cooler

Thermaltake has just launched SpinQ, a new CPU cooler compatible with Intel (Socket 775) and AMD (Sockets 939/754/AM2/AM2+) processors. The cooler might look strange, but it features the usual cooling components such as heat-pipes six of them, 50 waved aluminum fins in the form of a tube, and a 80mm Blow Fan. The fan's speed can be manually controlled from 1000 (19dBA) to 1600RPM (28dBA) and the fan also has blue LEDs. SpinQ weights 667g and still has to be priced. That thing actually looks like a crazy beast by design! I love the fan idea but replacing it is going to be a bear... Great great concept but risky buy.

I honestly can't see it outing any of the top coolers but it could look good for someone only doing lighter overclocking and concerned with appearance.

Not too sure. My Sycthe Ninja is pretty kick ass. I can get 25-30*C idle in my TT Armor case with no HSF on it and 18-25*C with my Antec 1200 with all fans on LOW.

From the videos and pics I've seen (I'm in the market for a new cooler, can ya tell?) this thing has a wicked fan. I think it will cool very well but the noise might resemble that of the fans you would find in a 4870/other dual slot solutions.

this looks hard to manufacture. also, there is only one way to conduct heat from the base to the fins (unlike some tower coolers that efficiently use their heatpipes by utilizing the middle area for base contact and both ends on the cooler fins). And some pipes are long before reaching the cooler fins. Imo, the engineering is not that good.

I was thinking the same thing, but tests will tell. They could certainly design it so it's vertical, making the pipes shorter.

The thing that really strikes me is the air/fan design - a large diameter (and long) impeller that throws air out on all sides, and sucks cool air into the middle. I hope this works well and they improve on the idea.

I like the way it looks too. I think there are enough Air coolers on the market though. Only the liquid metal one posted a day or so ago offers much of anything new.

i dont care for coolers where you cant upgrade the fan on, so the Zalman CNSP 9000 line is out aswell for my books.
