A longstanding partner of NVIDIA, XFX would soon embrace AMD to release graphics cards based on the ATI Radeon series. Its plans however are somewhat similar to what Gainward seems to be executing: to maintain strong ties with NVIDIA, while dedicating a smaller portion of its product lineup to those incorporating ATI Radeon GPUs.

Expreview spoke with an XFX official, who confirmed that the company would be taking up projects based around ATI Radeon products, while continuing to maintain its partnership with NVIDIA by continuing to have flagship products using the NVIDIA GeForce. XFX would be going as far as making sure that its products based on ATI Radeon GPUs wouldn't release in the Chinese market (a key market for NVIDIA products). The decision by XFX to work on ATI Radeon products came as a surprise to many, since XFX has been a staunch NVIDIA tier-1 partner.

I'm glad to see this trend starting up as ATi's partners have been one of their weaknesses, IMO.

So ATI isnt needing the chinese market then? ASUS, MSI and them play a nice act doing both ATI and Nvidia. I dont see how selling XFX branded ATI cards in the Chinese market is a problem. Oh well a new partner can only help`

The point is, XFX is far more dependent on NVIDIA than ASUS / MSI / Gigabyte and other neutral vendors have been. On the other hand, people wanting ATI now get the benefits of XFX (after-sale support and warranty). AMD only gains from this, its partners don't (or do they?). XFX will have to buy from manufacturer sources such as PC Partner, Infotech Corp., etc. they gain anyway.

I wonder if they are doing that to appease Nvidia after make the move to support both companies.

..that would be why UK people don't tend to favour XFX as much as stateside people do..

sapphire do their job well but I want to see better options released THROUGHOUT product lines..
for example the four DVI ports on the 4850X2..not the 4870X2..

yep even XFX in NA has said on Bjorn that they don't do any business with the EU, JP, etc branches, if your not in NA, XFX not very good at all, they got terrible support outside of NA.

XFX NA and XFX EU are more like 2 different companies though.

Its kind of like how Scion and Lexus are both owned by the same company(Toyota) but both are ,different(well except their names are different)

ahh forget it

I used to buy XFX cards... until I had to RMA one...

Never before have I had such problems with an RMA on anything. Took one month to get an RMA number out of them, then annother month to get a peep out of them about what they were doing with it. Finally ANNOTHER month later I got the new card back and yup you guesed it, they sent me annother BROKEN one! I am now lauching a new RMA for the new card. :( :shadedshu :banghead:

I am not sure if they include Taiwan in this but up until recently, ATI products have been an afterthought here. We just started getting HIS cards about 2 months ago.

Jen-Hsun Huang is Taiwanese, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Maybe we can see black PCB's for the ATI cards too. Stupid reason, but thats why I dont buy ATI. Need everything to match the theme of black and blue. :D
