The antec I posted has stronger +12v rails
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371007
22a+22a ftw :pimp:

Guys he has a low quality 420w, a 9600GT and up will not run long on it. I had a crappy 550w die from using a damn 3850 on it. A 4670 would be fine for it but I would look into upgrading it for sure!

antec are a shot in the dark when it comes to quility, some units are great, others are so bad they blow and take ur whole systme with them.

more common is "squeeling" that will drive you INSAIN then the psu will blow :p

the psu I linked currently is an INSAIN deal, lifetime warr, 20+20amps on the 12v rails and the OEM behind it is ToPower, also BFG has STELLER support, if you have an issue their head tech has been known to have you add him to MSN messenger just so he can deal with you 1 on 1!!!!!

Can you confirm that BFG model is Topower OEM? What's the UL registration number on the label for it?

Also the Antec is Delta built, so it is just as good.

would have to pull the psu to get any other numbers/info, your welcome to email jeff and ask him if you would like to :)

Also something you may want to note BFG's newer psu's are made by HUNT to spec's/designs layed out by BFG's Jonny Guru sorce for jonny guru being bfg employee

i can tell you this, bfg service and support are steller :)

any 8800/9600+ 3800/46XX/48XX would be a massive upgrade from a 1650, lol I had one a while ago

u can get an open box 8800GT from newegg for $86

Well, not all X1650 Series are the same...
I jumped from an X1650XT to an X1800GTO and it was a "lesser to same" experience unless I overclocked the GTO to 700Mhz. (GTO is stock at 500Mhz).
*X1650XT = X1950Pro chopped down... 2 quads disabled I think.
Core names - X1650XT= R560, X1950Pro = R570

4830 looks to be a steal for the price and an excellent low power card.

yeah that'd take a nice steamy-corn-filled dump on a X1600Pro :)

yeah, he was gonna get a 9600gt localy but thank god he saw the 4830 online with 30$ MIR(100bucks shiped after MIR) so he grabbed it, nice card, not as bad as some ppl imply, thankfully the 4800 cores shader heavy so loosing a quad dosnt seem to have the huge perf hit you may spect :p

Well I'm asking for an HD 4830, but I also put the BFG PSU on my wishlist... looked beefy, good reviews, good power rating... and best of all lifetime warranty. thanks all for your input

hmmm so you really think 4850's are going to drop by almost 50% by christmas, interesting

and gtx260 by 60%+ wow now that i would love to see :shadedshu

how is a voltmod and overclock going to use more than 512mb at 1280x1024 whereas at lower volts and clocks it wouldnt, that makes no sense what so ever

Well today is today 4870 is now 199.99.

The 4850 cost less then now sooo they have one now on newegg for 129.99:)

This just happened like the other day today.

Heeheheh I'll pm this because it's an old post:toast:

Hey all,

I have a similar issue.
In my rig #2 I def. need to update my VGA card.
I have been out of the loop on video cards for almost a year so I dont know what is a good deal for $100 and below.
Pretty much need SM3 for the newer games.

Only concern for me is I dont want a card that is overkill since I only have an X2 3600+ for my CPU.
Any ideas?

You have a plethora of options:
8800GS/9600GSO/9600GT or HD4670/HD3850/HD3870 IF you can find it cheap enough HD4830 or 8800GT.

Thanks JRRacing.
Out of curiousity, what is the order of performance for these cards?
Just like everyone else I want to get the best bang for the buck.

I already have them pretty much listed in retrospect but.

8800GS=HD4670<HD3850=9600GSO<9600GT<HD3870<HD4830 and then I beleive 8800GT (4830 is so close in performance)

EDIT: Oh and your welcome!

Hmm now the question is should i spend this money.
Gotta save for the new Maro and every bit counts.

But I cant play my Bioshock (DOH).
Unfort. looks like I will be looking for a Nvidia card since lately AMD cards have just been causing me issues after being a little over a year old.
So is there that much of a difference between the 8800GT 512mb version and the 8900GT 512mb versions?

Thanks again.

8800GT and 9800GT? Same card. IIRC, I think the only difference is the 98 supports Tri-Sli. IMO, either go for the HD4670 (if your into low PSU consumption), the HD3870 or 9600GT.
