i'n not sure thats true the bios are factory, so it should work for any 260 gtx

I was just saying it for the fact that you have to download the program by login in by your memeber's login.. I know that if you flash your bios to the a EVGA as manu. it will work.... Zen and I have been talking about that with his MSI card.

I'm just hoping the next version of Precision has it built in and the compatability with other brands is integrated for voltage modifacations too. Hopefully we'll soon see that happen. If someone is going to flash the bios to an EVGA, I'd almost just rather do a vmod to that brands' bios...I guess it depends on one's preference and plans for overclocking their card(s) though.

voltage does not change temps much, but your overclock will change the temps. I've been messing around with changing voltages with riva tuner. Some cards benefit but some (like mine) do not see a difference until 1.4v+

I noticed a pretty healthy increase in temps on my 192SP going from 1.12v to 1.18v, around 5-7C+ iirc (have to check in the first 5-10 pages of this thread to find out lol) in comparison to the same clocks using the OE set 1.12v. This was with the fan at 80% iirc, but it could've been with the fan at 100% too. I did notice right away as soon as the extra profile was loaded my temps were a few degrees higher from the extra voltage. I don't know about my Core216 tho...or the 55nm's, but it did make a difference for me in respect to temps. Didn't help a whole lot with the OC headway on that card so I went back to stock voltage.

It seems a lot of these newer cards are reacting better to voltage, I'm getting the itch to give it a go! I've had this card since Sept, with a light OC (for a GTX260), and not toying with voltage...that's just gonna have to stop! I'll get to fixing that here later this evening!

The HR3 is the only one on the market, right now. Here is a link for my review that cooler. I love it!!

There is one being made by Artic Cooling.. 3 fan one that covers it all up, but doesn't allow the difference fan use... So, I won't be grabbing it..

i think i cant go any further i dont want to push more volts than i tried
so what i did was

1125mv stock
1175mv oc

then i went from

core : 753mhz
shader : 1509mhz
mem : 1134mhz

to

core : 783mhz
shader : 1566mhz
mem : 1134mhz

then i ran mass effect for 15mins and was okay nothing happened so i decided to test it better, ran stability on Furmark got to around 400secs had been running 71, 72, 73c for 50secs or so anyway it crashed i got a nvlddmkm.sys blue screen error

i am attributing the error to heat or not enuf voltage or too high clock either way i think ill be going back to my old clocks and stock voltage

fan speed exactly 70% btw

what do you guys think

thought so as i though 73c was high and i really dont want to push the fan over 70% it gets incredibly loud louder than my case fan all 6 of them

i have just lowered the fan speed to 60% and put the voltage back to stock

1150mv

we shall see if it lasts, only oc the shader this time i think maybe the core was making it go hot but ive used less voltage aswell

that's not a tough OC for the 280s. I've seen quite a few get that high. After that there's a huge OC wall though and voltage/cooling needs to be pretty steep in order to get over it.

1480secs stable furmark

Don't know if you guys know about this yet, but you can software mod voltages on 260,280 and 295 cards by using this fairly simple guide: http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=4427 I've got my 280 at 1.23v right now, but can go higher or lower. It uses rivatuner, and really works!!

KeiranD, Nice, you should try 1.06v and see if it's stable. If my Core 216 variant is able to run at lower voltage, that might be a trick for ya...dunno if you'd hit those clocks, but I can get to about that level with 1.06v and 70% fan speed, I load about 60-63c iirc.

Undervoltage + OC FTW! These GPU's are almost the Core2's of the GPU world! :toast:
Well maybe...lol! I might try 1.0-1.02v at my current clocks and see what happens, I wouldn't mind running even cooler than I already am!

Went from 1125 to 1065, dropped temps by 6-8 degrees. Nothing though increases my max overclock, just lets me run a lower fan speed at my max OC. If I can drop it more maybe the heat decrease will be enough to help me get the shader up some more.

stable at that oc but it is back to plain old stock temps lol

so there was no need after all to use the program, i think if i want to lower the voltage im gonna have to go lower oc and i dont really want that its at a happy medium, with temps at 60/65c

That was my experience as well. These GPU's seem to be limited more by heat than voltage. More volts didn't really help with my OC. The only thing that really helped me was getting temps down by watercooling it. And even then I was was only able to bump up one more increment (shaders 1512->1566 and core from 756->783).

But I went to WC more for lower noise than overclockability.

Yes I did that and it did work but too much heat for my stock cooler, it's a real pain though with loading and making proviles for the voltages.....unless i was doing it wrong....i scrapped it though.

PWM fans, so you can tune them. You (Cold Storm) could always take the fan shroud off and put your own fans there. It has 3x92mm, so something like 2x120MM should do the trick if needed.

PWM fans, so you can tune them. You (Cold Storm) could always take the fan shroud off and put your own fans there. It has 3x92mm, so something like 2x120MM should do the trick if needed.

Yeah, You may be able to take it apart and throw whatever you want, but that would be having to modd something to hold the fans into place from the looks of it. Don't get me wrong, It does look like a great cooler. I'm just very happy with what I have. And don't think I'll be going with that.. My cooler, can keep my video card at 63c. And that's 3 hours of playing Grid.. So, I'm very happy due to where I live.
