Its a clash of the titans, 4870x2 and gtx295 aren't far off from each other by price and maybe in some cases performance, but since 4890x2 is going to be released later on, I rather have the latest card from one company than the second best because this is alot of money for me and a one chance at getting one of the best and most expensive cards right now.
Be prepared to be surprised, or not, by what I order tomorrow ^^
If you're prepared to go the GTX295 then go it for sure. It currently beats the 4870X2 in enough to call it an open and shut victory, even if a 4890X2 lands (not even announced) it will probably par a GTX295 anyway, not to mention running these babies stock is disgraceful, and overclocked they stretch their legs amazingly.
EDIT: here is what most 295 owners would call a mild to medium overclock, at my max stable oc, the oc min fps is higher than stock avg fps.
