Damn. I flashed my 3870 to a Turbo version. I would never do hard mods only soft mods. Modded my GTX 260 for better fan setup, 1.18v and permanent 3d clocks.

Yeah, I didn't mind him doing it... just he forgot the basics! lol.. That made me go to Nvidia.. I didn't want him to touch another ati card, and he's fanboy... So, Nvidia I went! Then, to me, 4xxx series isn't to great for me to spend cash on another ati card..

Anyone try and drop voltages to see what kind of stable voltages they can attain for their OC's? I'm curious to see what is attained and if results are similar and what others can achieve for different oc's.

dam..this card rocks...tried farcry 2 all max settings, and not one glitch..gonna try an older game medal of honor pacific assualt, this one did not play good on my old 6600 gts in sli

I stuttered slightly on ultra high with 8xAA. I had to go down to 4xAA to make the stutter go away (about 50 FPS average in game). Ultra high with 8xAA was on my 24" screen, 1920x1200. I have a 22" now that does 1680x1050 so I haven't tried 8xAA yet.

Btw, currently my Inno3D GTX 260 216 65nm OC edition turns out a reference card, not factory OC... I read it from some other thread, damn, I'm a victim.. I dont know who is responsible of making Inno3D GTx 260 card suppose to be factory OC, I'm just paying for the OC sticker instead... =(
Please I need some advice...

Noone try yet? Damn...maybe it's too late. I found the 182.50whql's to bring nothing new to the table aside from some gremlins others are reporting while folding. Step back to 182.08whql's, get EVGA's voltage program and precision and post some low voltage action dammit! I wish I had more GTX260's and a 280 or two to see what they were capable of. Running cooler seems to be a trick with these cards for overclocking, so undervolting and better cooling could be promising...unfortunately I can't seem to acquire an AC Xtreme GTX280 cooler in the states yet, but I was able to lower my fan speed by 10%, keep the same temps and OC, while lowering power draw, yet keeping full stability. C'mon folks...post up on this topic already! If you're hesitant, simply don't tick the apply at startup on the voltage tool, if it does crash (mine didn't below .988, but it did show artifacts below that voltage variable, so I simply increased), you'll be fine.

Yeah I learned early on that the OC versions and regular versions were nothing different than a clock increase via bios....I spread the word as much as I could, but it does suck that your card is running at stock speeds and is supposedly OC'd. What do the speed specs read on the box/website? If you got it cheap enough, just overclock it, I've yet to see a GTX260 not attain my OC's without any change, and recently learning I can attain the same OC's with .7 less voltage is a plus! Going from 1.0625 to .975 is definately a good thing cooling wise.

Thats why I only paid $20 more for the sticker only...:(
btw, EVGA can do the OC?? or do I need manually, lower the voltages ?? and what software do you recommend??

Step one, go and download 182.08 WHQL drivers. Step 2, go and download EVGA Precision 1.50, Step 3 go and download EVGA GVT Voltage Tuner (I dunno if it works with non-evga cards or not...), and see what you get from there. You should be able to set the GPU to 666 leaving the shaders linked, set the memory if you like...I do for the extra bandwidth, it does seem to help in heavier games. If GVT works, ensure you have the latest version of Furmark installed, run it in a 1024x768 window in stability mode and drop the voltage by one notch, let run for 30 seconds, repeat until you have artifacts, raise one notch and let run for at least 300 seconds (5 minutes).

You can mod the bios, I have posted details in the OP if you are interested, I did such for modified minimum fan speed on my current card, but voltage tuning was severely limited last time I looked...nothing compared to EVGA's GVT. If it doesn't work you could always backup your stock bios, and flash to an EVGA bios...the cards are physically the same, a different mfg ID in bios and sticker on the cooler is all that seperates your card from mine...that's it.

These cards are very easy to work with and have a lot of give to them, they're capable of over 100C without failing, the stock cooling is very good, really, just run Furmark as a stress test and just use the card in games.

Odds are you won't get much further than around 730/1550 GPU/Shaders and 1250 memory...I found my spot, my clocks are derived from the EVGA GTX260 FTW edition and then a little more on memory...really it provides plenty of performance for gaming and is sufficient for folding without killing the stock cooling, thus not needing much beyond 70% fan speed to keep cool at stock volts and not much beyond 60% fan speed for lowered volts. 180.84 and 182.08 are good drivers to keep ahold of, both are solid performers.

Not too much to it, these cards are easy to work with, if you have issues, you've gone too far or are not cooling enough, if you have issues, post up and we'll help you out!

This cooler on the palit sure is nice and quiet, just look at the idle temps!

I find the 182.08's better for folding, I noticed no difference in gaming, and I had a weird gremlin with my card's temp readings and the 182.50 drivers while folding. When I decided to go back after that whole issue, I was back in a range of drivers supported by EVGA's GVT, and for some reason instead of volting high and going further I decided to see how low I could go at my current OC, like many Core2 rigs I've OC'd.

You could always flash your card to an EVGA GTX260 to run GVT if you really want to play with it, it's a handy little tool, I personally just hope they integrate it into EVGA Precision sooner than later. I don't know all the rules to what cards can and can't use software controlled voltage, thus deeming the limited bios values in Nibitor all you could do...but seeing my results, running min voltage values on EXTRA (gaming/3d clocks, 3d in nibitor is for dvd/movie mode).

Yes, I can't use the GVT for Inno3d, might be bios or sumthin hinders the access...
btw, I read on the first part of your thread regarding the tool nibitor, but instead i cant see 1.18mv only 1.15mv...
And also, how to lessen the VDDDC current value, ive seen some values are only 2.9A

The only way to lessen VDDC Current Value is to lower draw the card needs to operate. 10.2A is fine...drop the fan speed to 40% and you might drop another .5-1A. My guide on the OP was based on my experience with a Generation 1 192core GTX260, when I stepped up to the 216core version, voltage values in Bios were different, but still skewed similarly in steps, just lower steps with the max being 1.15v, while my card runs on a default 1.06v for Extra. I forget what the minimum voltage was though...it's been a while since I've messed with the bios on this card. Pretty much set the fan speed, flashed it and forgot about it.

Weird...My GTX 260 is refusing to downclock for some reason =\ Only way to get it to is to reboot, but then after awhile it does the same thing lol

Yeah these newer drivers do that...mine will turn back down after closing some games, or watching a dvd. The 182.50 drivers were a little better about that, but the downclocking hasn't really worked right in the 180 series of drivers, though iirc the 180.48/84's might have been ok.
