im getting the nv4 display driver errors again, and its with the 180.48 drivers.

The computer will hard lock every 8-10 hours now.

My question is what is the next stable set of driver i could try, i think that the crashes might be though ther F@H though i am not sure.

Haven't got any display drivers errors with any drivers I've used, so might be something else causing it.

Anyways, 181.22 and 182.50 WHQL were both fine for me. (don't fold)

Got my replacement Palit GTX280 yesterday. So far looking better, furmark stable so far at 730/1566 while my old card stopped at 710/1458. Furmark score went up almost 15%! And pepsi, I'm running the 185.85 whql drivers, folds all night without a glitch.

Nice, I got rid of the 185.85 whql's due to horrid DX10 gaming performance in Vista, 7 doesn't seem to have the issue with them, but I am primarily in Vista. Still on 182.50's, but I did recently snag an MSI GTX260-192 that runs pre-oc'd, I haven't messed with it much but plan a bios vmod for it as it runs 1.18v for Extra clocks, I'm sure 1.06v will treat it fine and drop them temps. But now I have a couple GTX's gaming/folding and a q6600/e8500 for wcg, sure neither is the best but both treat me and her quite well.

I am hoping the next 18x.xx whql driver released fixes the issues I've had with gaming in the last version (try Bioshock or Cryostasis, both dropped to 14fps average with the new drivers...just horrid). Glad to see you got your 280 back john.

Not sure if any of you noticed a change to my system specs, but I hope I am still eligible to talk in here. Recently upgraded to a GTX 285 :D

My final clocks were:

734 core - 1566 shaders - 1377 memory

Not the greatest overclocks from a 285 but not bad either IMO, also changed the fan profile to that of my GTx 260, so it keeps it nice and cool (for a GT200) under load.

I also based my BIOS on that of an EVGA FTW BIOS which gave me more memory steps.

Nice Alex, this thread is for all G200 based chips, just when I started it 10 months ago there were only 2 options, since then things have grown by quite a bit, the G200 GPU's have grown very strong and successful in damn near every iteration and model revision. That's a helluva upgrade man, definately a healthy OC! That's gotta give you some very good performance numbers, gaming fps and folding ppd!

Yeah, I'm not real happy with the 185.85s now, when screensaver kicks in, my card drops to 2d speeds, not good for folding! Found that I'm Crysis stable at 1512 shaders, 1566 was a bit much. Still a nice improvement over 1458 shaders! Now I'm wondering if a little extra v might get me stable at 1566.. Wish these things had smaller steps between speeds. Edit: full clocks Crysis, GTA IV stable at 720/1512/2430, much testing! , temps on gpu not past 67c, vrms not past 67c, although room temp right now at about 65f. This card is acting much more like a Palit!! Where ever you are, thankyou Palit Guy!

It`s awesome! I set my card on:

And now I can play `STALKER: Clear Sky` on max! Before that; game was lagging a bit.
Is this safe to keep those settings? (I set fans at AUTO)
I was using FurMark (Stability test 1680x1050 AAx8) about 2 mins and when temp reached 80C, screen goes black. Why? Should I decrease my settings?

FurMark results (1680x1050 AAx8) (Minimum Fps/Average Fps/Max Fps)
Before OC; 37/46/62
After OC; 38/52/70

Best test is to run Crysis Warhead for at least 10 minutes. My card passed furmark at 1566, but crysis did it in. Always take a nice long game test, to make sure!
Also, if you want to crank the speed, set fan speed to 100%. Who cares about noise, your game should be booming away, shouldn't hear the stupid fan!

Okay fellas just got a brand new retail PNY 285 gtx 1gb ddr3 and I'm planning on putting a Arctic Cooler 280 gtx Accelero Extreme Tri Fan Cooler on it. Then I'm going to sell the card. What do you think I should ask for it? I was thinking 310.00 what do you think? I opened the PNY card and am testing it now and it's a overclocking beast.

Hi guys, really hoping for your help..... not as good as you at the real deep tech stuff....
Just replaced my old 8800 GT 512 MB (that broke) with a XFX GTX 260 and having trouble atm....
I'm not playing any games like Far Cry or so, more or less only WoW, and everything is working just fine until like 2 hours into raid, then i get a instant fps drop from like 50 down to 3-4 the comletly lags out for like 3-5 secs then ok then lag.... I restart and all is fine again, i have ran diagnostics on all HD's, checked voltage on the 12 V cables to gpu, checked temps on both cpu and gpu never over 67 on either, using all the latest (and have tried older) drivers....
What can be wrong???? Is it Win7 f*****g up, can my PSU be to weak? (the ES-500 is supposed to deliver up to 17A per cable, max 408 W over the two 12 V contectors).
Pls help me out, noone that i've contacted can help me.... (Antec, XFX, Dustin.se etc etc etc)

$310 is great for an after market cooler added. Thats still right up with the cost of the new cards though, so it may not sell right off the bat. I'd bet it would sell pretty hot at $300 flat if you were lookin to sell right away.

By the way trt, how many cards is that this year for ya? 6?

well at 285 gtx new is 300.00+ and the cooler retails for 61.00 not including shipping. I thought 310.00 was cheap. I think it's more like 8.

When O when is Nvidia going to release their next line of chips. I want to upgrade, but see no point. With my GTX280 OC'd so high nothing new stock even competes with it, except for dual gpu solutions, and I won't run those because of all the issues they have, same with adding another card for sli... So does anyone have any Idea or evidence that says when Nvidia will release the GT300 series?

The new Matrix Asus cards are pretty tempting I must say. But, Yeah, I'm with you on getting a new card.. I've had this GTX 280 since the first month (Step-up Ftw!) and I'm waiting for something different.. Getting a 285 isn't really worth it, so I'm quite ready for the GT300 series too.

My gtx280 is hitting 83c playing crysis warhead in 90f ambient, it's running perfect. Anyone have any experience as to where a gtx280 starts to fail for heat? I can't put my air conditioner on until July1 and we've got temps that don't normally start until well into July. I'm wondering what it will take?

It will be fine... i can get you a modded fan profile BIOS if you like, took me a week of testing, but its guaranteed to drop your 280 temps.

Cold Storm: How is that Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800?? Does that have a digital tuner in it for the DTV conversion?

I believe it has Dtv built in.. Or so does the Newegg says so... I really never did much with mine.. I tested it, worked some what, and didn't feel like fiddling with it anymore.. it's a MCE style one.. Just last year.. didn't feel like tinkering with anything since everything just crapped on me...

Sold my 4870x2 and bought a Sapphire Toxic HD4890, I was sick of the hairdryer stock cooler, am keeping the 275 for my Yorkfield rig though, might do a few comparisons between the 2 first, I am just looking forward to a quiet cooler! The toxic comes with the Vapour Chamber cooling PLUS Heatpipes, standard for the Atomic and Toxic versions.

i just bought a gtx 260 for my little bro xfx gtx 260 192 core and am very pleased by it. but in some games the fps isnt nice an smooth. so i done 3d mark 06 and my standard score 576 core standard speeds. with my 5000be 3ghz is 10299 and when overclocked to 690 ,1500 ,1110 it goes up to 10766. not that i9 care about that. but i understand that getting a quad core would mean the score going up to around 20k and games will be playing perfect , i mite even get a p2 x2 550 overclocks like a bitch and is quite a bit faster than my current cpu. still i am happy with wat if got cod 4 always above 60fps:)

Oh, I should mention, I run the fan at 100% all the time. I could do a regrease, but I really really hate taking these things apart! I'll have to get new thermal pads ect. Guess for now I'll just run games like warhead at night when it's cool. Strange because crysis original was running at 75c when warhead goes to 83c with the same ambient temps.

you should have kept that bad boy and bought a accelero extreme, you almost cannot hear it at 100 percent http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalo...ath=2_&mID=244
