Just wanted to post a few quick observations about the Chinese made Ione Scorpius M10 keyboard that was delivered a few days ago. I've not yet opened it up for checking the internal circuitry to see if it is of poor construction as has sometimes been the case for this model. In a few of the points below, I've compared this board to the Das III and ABS M1 keyboards because I've been using them recently as well.
The Good
* works with USB or PS/2 connection (USB to PS/2 adapter is included)
* standard 104 keyboard, fairly slim in size, with very little wasted space
* tactile feel, blue cherry mechanical switches
* types slightly quieter than blue cherrys on the Das Keyboard
* no ringing noise like with the Das and M1
* green LED lock lights are not overly bright, but are bright enough
* no Ione logo inscribed onto upper-right corner of casing
* smaller Windows keys, leaving more space for wider CTRL and ALT keys
* bigger than average key locater bumps/nipples on F and J keys
* medium sized characters with easy to read font used for key lettering
* same black matted finish is used on keycaps and keyboard casing
* black matted finish should not scratch easily
* only $60 (US) shipped, compared to $130 for the Das keyboard
The Bad
* Esc, F2, F5, F6, and F7 keys sit slightly lower on chassis than the other F keys
* tilde, 1 and 3 keys sit slightly lower than other keys in same row
* Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause/Break keys stand taller than the F-keys in same row
* no recessed stepping for the Caps Lock key, or the Num Lock key
* only two rubber pads on bottom of keyboard, and they are smaller than those on the Das and ABS M1 keyboards
* no cable grommet where cable enters keyboard like comes on the Das and M1.
* no gold plating on USB connector like with M1
* a few odd and slight imperfections in the keyboard plastic casing
* bigger footprint than the M1, and more near in size to the Das
* some keys feel and sound slightly different than others
* doesn't feel quite as sturdy as the M1 and Das, and has more flex
The Ugly
* the lock lights decal/label is really ugly, and could easily have been more attractive
Even with the issues described above, I really like the overall feel of this keyboard when typing, at least so far. Once I get around to opening it up, I'll try to determine why some keys don't sit at the same level as the others. I'll also try to post some photos the first time I can get my hands on a camera.
