It says it's made for designers too. I wonder what type of panel it has... maintaining same color perception in all corners at this size could be something. And is it me or the thing is just very bulky? And of course, excuse me but where is the praised fullhd shizzle...
All in one this should be another fatal1ty piece of hardware at 8k... if I had these $ I'd be already ordering my i7 and 2 x gtx285 (+one cool system also, but I won't bore you to death with geek dreams) and keep the rest for the gtx 300 upgrade or 5870...

Thanks for the correction. Sorry, I dont pay much attention to screens with a lower resolution than my existing setups (2x 1600x1200 = 3200x1200 which beats 2880x900 any day).

@zAAm,

You need www.ultramon.com

ultramon is pretty poor. I've heard people say displayfusion PRO is better.

Yup, I'm running DisplayFusion 3. You just can't see the taskbars because they are set to auto hide ;) Used to use Ultramon but it wouldn't set my wallpaper correctly in Win7.

get about 8 of them. surround yourself. build a keyboard rest on the arms of your chair. use cordless mouse and keyboard. spin in circles on office chair giggling.

lol, and then you'd have to crawl under them or something to get out. Unless you make a toilet seat chair. Then you imagine you're the architect and then get someone to throw food in from above.

Another problem with more than one of these is that it's shaped in a parabola rather than a semi-circle. So it won't fit together nicely... :(

EDIT: nvm, they fit pretty good next to each other ;) AND there's a space for you to get out as well!

Doesn't it seem a bit too wide for games? Probably made for architects, maya users.

Man, this was a great idea, that fell flat on it's face as soon as I saw the vertical resolution. 900 pix vertical is completely useless.

Ultramon works brilliantly for me. But I'll look into displayfusion PRO since you recommend it.

Wallpaper? That's for girls. Dark grey-blue screens, only icons, that much more S:E:R:I:O:U:S

Uh... yeah.

I'd rather have 4960x1600. Also, my displays are 60 inches together.
If anyone is wondering why the resolution is so low - it's because you can't transfer much more data on a single cable. Dot pitch 0.360?! That's about as bad as on an TV. A monitor that is almost not use-able for a computer.. and that's the only thing it can ever support.

And I rather like the bars separating the monitors. That way, I can have things run independently and full-screen.

Also, 0.02ms? Even SED's don't take it down lower than 1ms. That's not even a joke.. but it IS funny.

Yeah, also noticed the dot pitch. It's horrible. You wouldn't be able to sit close to the thing, destroying the whole "immersion" factor they are trying market it with.

with the exception of the windows 7 beta fish and the amusement it provides me, i stick with solid black backgrounds.

Hey this is the Alienware monitor!
my thoughts exactly when i first saw it. even the bezel is exactly the same, makes me think either alienware didn't patent it fast enough or they're subcontracting it out.

Also what games support such a res?
I would not mind getting the new Philips 21:9 tv, but I think VERY little games support it.

in 90% of games, even if a res is not in the in-game options, you can force it somehow.
just don't try running it on an ea game. ea still says anything but 4:3 res is "unusual" and they're not programming their games for widescreens. bastards.

4:3 is normal, 16:9 is "cheating" and "gives an unfair advantage"
oh except their new games support 16:9 without cropping/stretching.
What does this mean? it means EA dont want to pay anybody to update their bloody games.

Yea, same opinion here about the 900 pixel height. My guess is that in 5 years, we'll see OLED versions built on flexible substrates, where you can bend the screen to the radius of your liking.

And in 20 years, we'll have 80" versions of that with 3D and a 4960p resolution that run for 200$. You'd pin it to the wall using nails like a poster.

Yea, same opinion here about the 900 pixel height. My guess is that in 5 years, we'll see OLED versions built on flexible substrates, where you can bend the screen to the radius of your liking.

i remember watching something bout flexible screens a while ago on discovery or the science channel, but anyway it seems they've come a good way since i watch that, i don't remember them showing colors on the ones in the show, but i bet those screens are faulty as hell right now :p probly a 50hr lifespan lol

and i agree with everyone else, it is WAY overpriced for that resolution, i'm sure it takes some work to manufacture that monitor compared to the avg rectangular one, but no where near enough to warrant the 8K price tag. If it was say $1,999-2,499 then i'd say it's worth it to some people. And yea that vert resolution of 900 blows. I put my 22in at 1440x900 just to compare to my bros 1440x900 on his 19", and i didn't like it at all so i can't imagine it looking to great on a larger screen. I don't believe that response time lol they much be using something new like WTW instead of BTB/GTG or something lol(dunno if WTW would be better:laugh:)

my thoughts exactly when i first saw it. even the bezel is exactly the same, makes me think either alienware didn't patent it fast enough or they're subcontracting it out.

in 90% of games, even if a res is not in the in-game options, you can force it somehow.
just don't try running it on an ea game. ea still says anything but 4:3 res is "unusual" and they're not programming their games for widescreens. bastards.
