Ram problem

I have an m2n-mx se plus mainboard that supports ddr2 PC2 8500 1066 ram. It goes up to 4gb, I put some ocz ram (4gb) kit ram. And everest only reads it as 775mhz.

What is the problem?

download cpu-z and see if it also reads 775mhz. Click the memory tab and give us a SS.

Could it be something related with my bios? I had to reset it in order for it to read my second slot and post.




Also the store I bought my ram from advertised it to be OCZ OCZ2P10664GK DDR2 PC2-8500 1066 MHz Platinum which is strange. CPU-Z reads it as OCZ OCZ2p10662g DDR2 PC2-6400 400 MHz Platinum. OCZ2p10662g should be PC2-8500 1066 MHz.

Go there to switch it to 1066 you should be good to go then unless your ram needs more volts to run at that speed. According to your CPU screen shots you have to have 2.2V in your ram to run at 1066MHz

i think that your motherboard dont have the necesary dividers for run the speed at 1066.

can u link me to the board. probably what u have to do is crank the fsb to 266 and keep a multiplier of 4 in order to have them running at 1066.

I read up somewhere that only phenoms and black editions can have ram run at clock speed of 1066 without overclocking. I only have an x2, is this true?

This is before with 667 ram. 1.5gb

Now with 1066 4gb

With little difference, it turns out to be a waste of money unless I get a better processor. But that's alright, since I am getting 2.5gb more than I originally had. It was only 20$ more than the 800 ram. If the board supports am2+ then it must be able to support a phenom of some sort. Thank for the help.

The speed is set the same 246.6MHz so your Read/write and copy are what makes the difference and as you can see its faster with 4Gb

Memory set in BIOS to 800MHz

10.5 X 258 = 2709 /5 = 541.8
CPU 2709MHz
Memory 541MHz so 1083MHz

10 X 270 = 2700 /5 = 540
CPU 2700MHz
Memory 540MHz so 1080MHz

In both shots your RAM is running at 493mhz. The top screenshot has it in single channel at 4 4-4-12 timings while the bottom shot is running in dual channel at 5 5-5-15 timings.

It is running at that speed because your CPU multiplier is odd, and it wont run at 1066 unless you get an AM2+ cpu, doesn't have to be a black edition though.

I didnt notice that Erocker you dont miss a thing.

Well Blackbird if you cannot overclock your computer the way I sent then just switch the timings to 4-4-4-12 and get it to run at 800MHz. It will be fast and you won't have to overclock the computer.

Thanks, but I cant switch the timings. This board limits me from playing with anything. It will only allow me to change the voltages. The only thing this boards bios will do to bypass is if I used the Asus profiles under jumper free. Which only go up to 10%. On my other board it could run stable at 15% faster. But I don't like using asus profiles. I would use the other board but it only supports ddr2 800.
