I used these on my Accelero Xtreme 280 when I installed it on my XFX 285, works perfect but needs cutting - they are about 2-3 mm too high.

Just wanted to show you my temperatures with the accelero Xtreme installed on my XFX 285 GTX.

The first picture is running Furmark and stock speed on my i7 920 but with 741 core 1600 shader and 1400 memory. I am very pleased with those temperatures.

The second picture is at gaming settings under full load from Furmark. Pretty impressive that my temperatures do not go above 59 degrees celcius when running Furmark and at 4.3 Ghz speed with same overclocked numbers on the 285 GTX.

What are ur ambient temps cus my GTX 285 gets 10*C hotter than that with a 25*C ambient, at only 720 / 1512 / 1350

I would think the room temperature was about 21-22 degrees when I tested this. But I have an Antec 1200 case with the CPU cooler blowing directly down onto the GTX 285.

My graphics card is a vanilla, so I am quite happy with its performance.

Just tested this again and now it says 56 C when running 744 core, 1600 shader and 1400 memory. My i7 920 is currently running 3.8 Ghz.

22€ for 0-1kg is too much for postage. Especially for a products that costs less.

Well, at least it is another cooler for the 200 series cards, no idea how well the gpu sink works but it looks quite decent, with the dual 120mm fans.
Certainly not a good vrm solution though, especially for a 280, four long aluminum sinks
The Enzotech mosfet sinks are still holding up very well on my vrm's. I've considered testing the hacksawed-off stock piece and even the Swiftech plate, but have decided to leave it as it is.

Glad to see this thread still going strong OnBoard, those Acceleros are doing very well. Cooling the vrm's remains the biggest challenge, particularly for the GTX280. Aside from changing the design on such cards as the GTX285, Nvidia was probably very smart to remove the vrm temperature monitoring altogether

This one from Skythe also looks interesting. But it appears to have the same type of thin aluminum plate for the vrm's that AC and TR use. At least it comes with the heatsink pack that is so popular for Accelero users

Alright. This thread is pretty massive, so, I'll just shoot a reply and hope for the best.

I'm going to be getting this card (eVGA GeForce GTX 280) pretty soon and will be getting an Accelero Xtreme GTX 280 as a cooling solution. I've read up on the VRM cooling issue and I'm wonder what the best solution to this problem would be? I noticed that some have suggested these Enzotech (MOS-C1) heatsinks as a solution to this problem as long as 3mm are shaved off the top of the heatsink prongs. This is probably the solution I'll be shooting for unless someone can suggest something better.

Are there better solutions for this?

Have a look at posts #11 & 12 on page 1 of this thread. OnBoard has posted an excellent guide with test results on different methods of dealing with GTX280 vrm temperatures.

With 280 however everything fits (well except for a contact with s-video, but it's on there).

Seems everyone wants a piece of the (cooling) pie, now that there are so many GT200 versions and with cheap prices.

Swiftech plate would be an interesting try, but I know how you feel. If you got something that's working testing another method that needs some extra work isn't that tempting If I'd start again I'd probably try that, if it was available and now that I know it's bolted on with stock screws.

I'm going to cut my own heatsink for VRM from copper (got some machinery here).
Does someone here have VRM heatsink from Thermalright HR-03 GTX? if someone has it - can you make me a drawing of it? i need exact size and shape of it with exact location and sizes for 4 mounting holes and holes for high components, also size and location of 7 points which go in contact with VRM chips.
It would be better if drawing is made from bottom side (not from top). AutoCAD drawing would be the best solution.
I can't make it myself as my video card is at home and I’m on business trip in another country and here we got machinery to cut anything from copper.

I'll give it a shot this weekend, I have little experience with CAD or Drafting so some tips would be great. If you make something that works out well, I'll buy one in a heartbeat. Where are you from? I'm not using mine.

CAD will be better. But any picture in any programm will do as long as it's made so that any 3rd person will understand what is on it without seeing original pictures of the heatsink.
i wish i had that heatsink here then i could make drawing in 5 minutes...

Accelero wont get flush w/ GTX-285

I have the read most of the post here but i just cant seem to get it to work. Most here say they can get the Accelero flush with the card but it just does not seem to work in my case. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong or am i just an idiot?

I don't quite get what you mean with "flush". Accelero bottom doesn't sit flat with the core IHS? The end board capacitors, or the s-video port could lift the other end a bit.

Picture isn't quite clear enough to see what the problem is either, if you mean the mounting feet, they are not supposed to touch the card and will take their place against the washers once you screw it down.

edit: most likely the capacitors on the end of the board that's the issue. Just noticed you said GTX 285, but picture looked like GTX 275. Well EVGA has gone budget and used GTX 275 PCB with full memory and core.. Post #270 covers that issue too, just look for the GTX 275 issues.

Wow, never seen it like that before, its not a GTX 285 PCB.

So as OnBoard says it looks like a GTX 275 PCB that EVGA have added a few more ram chips to and called it a GTX 285.

That is an interesting idea. My TR plate is also unused, but my drawing is terrible, perhaps I can try to illustrate/measure it somehow. I would think it may be difficult to properly show the vrm contact points though, best solution for xmas2 would be to have an actual TR plate. I will also see if I can come up with something.

yep, that would be the best solution but the only way i can get that original heatsink is to pay 13$ for it which is a bit expensive for me right now
