NVIDIA's GeForce 190.38 driver suite which arrived in beta form about a week ago, received its official status with WHQL-certification. The driver, like its beta version, introduces a list of changes as described in the release notes documents for for Windows 7, Vista, and XP, including a new release of the PhysX system software, version 9.09.0428. It supports the entire range of NVIDIA GPUs from GeForce 6 series and upwards, and NVIDIA ION, ION LE platforms. Important changes over the previous 186 series drivers include:
  • Support for the OpenGL 3.1 API
  • CUDA 2.3 support for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See CUDA Zone for more details
  • A new user-controlled power management setting for GeForce 9-series and later graphics cards. This option allows users to set a performance level for each DirectX or OpenGL application
  • Includes several new control panel features and numerous bug fixes

well it better run more stable! i was getting a weird issue of the fallout 3 crashing when i hadnt forced off v sync in nvidia CP

they are okay drivers i get mad frame drops in and slowdown at random times in fallout 3 but for the most part except from that they seemed fine

one other problem i forgot as i was typing is that digital vibrance is changing the desktop far to much like 0 is actually black in white i found a good setting at 45% tho

Im glad it wasnt just me who had fo3 crashing issues with this version, I tried the beta and fo3 would crash every 10 mins or so. Gone back to 186.18 now.

I would imagine if the version number hasnt changed, its exactly the same as the beta, but now with a WHQL certificate

5 - 10% loss in performance across the board from 182.47 series, especially in SLI, scaling is really down from older versions.

some horrible driver releases from nv lately.

Yes it is... and yes I have - Of course it is my system - I even talked to nvidia support, and they are aware of widespread decrease in performance in SLI in the 185.xx and up drivers on 750i and 780i chipsets in many games. Far Cry 2, Crysis + Crysis Warhead, Fear 2, Jericho (lol) all show a massive dip in playability. Vantage GPU score stays the same lol.

I was hoping that these would fix that, but they have not.

Just because the driver works for you, doesn't mean it will work for other people - No offense, I'm glad it does :toast:. But that one guy that says the driver doesn't work for him is not lying lol.

Yeah, the last few driver releases have been like that for me, I still did manually, but the installer didn't require it...

what im saying is that some people may be the exception because apparently it improives speeds or is equal to the 186.18whql go check the guru 3d forums im NOT lying its not that stable apparently but the WHQL is fine for me as is almost every driver, image IQ tho changes all the time

i use the international UK drivers and ive had to restart every time through a prompt
