Cool, at 1st i was thinking ooh no not another hard drive bay but that looks kinda cool if you need such a item.

Second reason i would not get it is due to knowing this family some one will think it's a toaster lol.

It works like any other HDD LED indicator that would be on a computer case. Depending on what kind of activity the hard drive is doing the light will be on. So it could be on solid if the drive is writing for example or it could flash if the HDD was randomly reading data. :)

usb connection

Great review but just one simple question - do you connect this to just ONE USB port on your pc?

it says USB or ESATA connection.... the usb connection will be slow but the ESATA connection is more than enough for 2 HDD's no matter how fast they are ;)

With two disks in, one can be used for eSATA and one using USB 2.0, or both using USB 2.0. The performance is the same as in the review respectfully. Going from disk to disk using the USB 2.0 interface, look at the write performance in the ATTO Disk Benchmark. :)

I have the single disk version of this dock and i wont not recommend

on the web site it says it works with all sata drives!
which is in correct I have a few 200G sata 1 drives that will not power up.

Other than this it works, I also have a no name brand dock which works with my seagate drives .....

Still waiting on a reply from vantec as the claim it works with all drives
