CoolIT Systems, of the Domino A.L.C. CPU cooler fame, has detailed plans of another turnkey water-cooling system, this time for the ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card. The water-cooling system is factory-assembled, requiring you to merely install the water-blocks on the graphics cards, and placing the radiator, which triples up as the reservoir and pump, in an appropriate location.

From the CGI drawings that the company released, it looks like a single unit of this water-cooling system will be able to cool two Radeon HD 5870 cards. The radiator unit looks to be as big as most radiators that can hold two 120 mm fans per side. The water-blocks look to be full-coverage (on the obverse side of the PCB), and monolithic, while the reverse side of the PCB seems to need to rely on AMD's back-plate. In the upcoming 2 GB variant of the Radeon HD 5870, the back-plate will find greater utility. Water-cooling typically provides higher overclocking headroom, and lower effective noise output. CoolIT's Radeon HD 5870 WC system will be unveiled today at the AMD Technical Forum & Exhibition 2009 in Taipei.

Good God. I read "Turkey water-cooling system". Was wondering what the Hell they were doing

As for the product, seems nice enough, although it seems a niche product. The price will probably decide whether it's a failure or not.

lol, does it look that easy to misread? Maybe yes, because readers only see the first and last letters of a word, and how the word "looks" like. Fixed.

Looks to me like the hot 'exhaust' water from gpu1 goes to cool gpu2... i don't like that, also the tubing seems thin but they must have tested it all so, can't wait for a review.

I think the better way to type the word is actually "turn-key" -- less opportunity for humorous misreadings that way, too. :p

Thats how any loop works, unless you run a different loop for every component, but even if you run multiple loops, dual GPU's are usually on their own loop and the CPU is on its own.

Pricing?

Has there been released any info about price? If it costs like more than a custom loop, well... Not very good. If the price is $150 - $200 and the temps are somewhat cool, it will be very nice.

In a state of flux...
Do I smell another poor cooling system from CoolIT??

Maybe... :shadedshu

It sometimes shocks me people would even consider buying something like this...for a guess (and going on previous crap they have done) CoolIT offer nothing over decent aftermarket air...apart from more money to have their system in your case.

It's an all in one system that requires no maintenance, and very little setup. Plenty of people could use this that don't want to build something themselves. Their other products aren't nearly as bad as you would say they are. It's just something you wouldn't buy.

CoolIT makes some of the best TEC coolers and the ALC is a huge hit.
Looks like if the price is right, Id snag one of these, but I Dont have a 5870. Perhaps will fit on a 4870?

I'm very satisfied with my Hydro H50 so I'm looking forward to seeing more preassembled liquid cooling kits for something other than a CPU.

He wouldn't buy it because it's nearly as bad as he says it is.

It's not like we're asking for an AIO system to rival an H20.. although that would be awesome.

It's that for years and years and years, every company that has something to do with cooling, makes an AIO water-cooling system, failing every time to offer results better than air cooling and that offer value in comparison to their high price.

They simply begin to appear as gimmicks and we begin to dislike them.. especially those of us who had their hopes up, or even bought one.

Looks good in all black. Anyone who will have this can easily put this in their system without fear of competing colors.
