The Spire Slide Pro is an enclosure which offers simple installation in form of a hard drive tray. It also comes in all different flavors for both IDE or SATA drives and features a backup functionality. It is priced about 2 Euros cheaper than any other enclosure on the market. Did Spire remove crucial features?

With more cons than pros I don't understand how it still rated above a 7.

Mainly? Price. That is the one and only reason it got the Budget Award. Here in central Europe the cheapest *combo* enclosure with eSATA & USB 2.0 costs 23€. And that one does not come with a OTB functionality. So the Slide Pro is cheap...but you get what you pay for...

It works as advertised, thus it gets a 7 rating.

If Spire were to advertise "tool-less" installation (like their original Press Release a few months ago said, while the website no longer mentions such a feature) or "absolut silent"...

...then it would receive less than 7.

My photoshop skills are amazing! Good review by the way. I always stick to enclosures with the larger 80mm fans in them though.
