NVIDIA recently launched their first GDDR5 graphics cards. The new GeForce GT 240 is based on NVIDIA's brand-new 40 nm G215 graphics processor and features 96 shaders. Axle has chosen to use an Arctic Cooling heatsink on their GT 240 design.

Wow, Nvidia is really putting out some crap chips. Beaten by a 4830 and it costs $110?

Nvidia has to get it's act together or its the end of the line for them.

is this a replacement bin for 9600GT or something to compete against 4670?

Good review as always w1z.

Does any of those games used to review support PhysX? If not could you please also include a section on how well the NV cards does in that respect.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Unless it was being used as a dedicated physx card there would be no point, the performance hit from trying to run physx in game on a weak card like this would cripple it, tho if the price is right then it might make a nice (rebranded) budget gaming card :toast:

Well,

after seeíng the OC, basicly the card still underperforms at a standard 9600GT. There's no real new technology involved in this little chip, basicly just a refresh.

the temps on the Axle cards looks good even after some OC maybe one of their cards from the Nvidia 300serie with DX11 when they come should be my card of they use a custom cooler on them aswell ^^

it is new technology. . . . . . . but at the same time its old technology, even though some will defend that DX10.1 is new for them in reality DX10.1 is old now.

this is what nvidia always does, make old overpriced slow chips when they're down to get a quick buck, maybe they were trying to replace the 9600GSO with this chip that they got rid of and made twice as slow, while trying to sell 9600GT's if you remember the 12rop 96sp GSO that hit 700mhz overclocking easily that got replaced with the 8 rop 48sp pos.

and even worst, this chip overclocks like a piece of shit from the looks,

Do they want to end up like matrox? Maybe they hope it will just lure dumb people to buy that. Whats with the high price? If they wanted to replace the 9600 with that, so why is it so damn inferior? Man so many questions that go unanswered!

I think that the best of the GT240 cards is the MSI GT240 with overvoltage. I gout out from my card more than any others from GT240's. But I had to replace the cooler on it. Now I have a cooler from 9800GT and it overclocks very well. The shaders could go higher, and the best part of it? IT FULLY STABLE!!!
