Early 470 & 480 benches

IDK, I doubt even a GTX480 needs a anywhere near that full speed. (Like what? 10K RPM? :wtf:)
I seriously doubt it need anything more than maybe 3.5K RPM.
Maybe someone just want to make him/herself a hair drier.

the card does have the same mounting holes as the 8800GTX and ULTRA so there should be some aftermarket cooling options, they may be old but the GTX was a hot card also, so they might work like a Xigmatek Battle Axe.

I am thinking of something like an Accelero Xtreme 8800 :p

For nVidia's sake I hope they release these at 300/400 and not the 400/600 everyone suspects.

if they don't they're screwed, even fanboys will probably struggle to justify it. I can see it now, the new gtx480 owners all putting on reality blinkers when they realize they could've had two hd5850's (or maybe hd5870's after price drops, maybe) for the same price.

600 is nothing new in nvidia land but on a more serious note, if amd dosen't do something about an FirePro/Workstation version of the HD5800 I think they might get left behind in the HPC side this time around big time.

and thats a ton of money gone.

Why is no one else amazed at the lighted logo?! It runs 9001 frames per second!!!!

I saw a GTX 480 today at a Gadget expo ( a rubbish one) even touched it, OOOOHHHH lol

Unfortunately the system was not connected to a screen *shakes head* you'd of thought after all the shit they've been getting the people running the show would of linked it to a screen. ( the gpu was running, the case font had temperature sensors and the GPU did have temps)

Was in a Dual socket 1336 motherboard with EVERYTHING watercooled ram, both cpus the northbridge and graphics . My brother in law took a photo which I'll share when he gets back home to send it to me.

So... what was the temps?
as for the dual socket does this means nvidia is using dual socket cpu's (8 cores) to beat the 5870 scores at unigine benchmarks...?

@Steevo , Please! let me know where you got your background picture i would love to see a full pic of her...:D

looks like you have a pretty much topped out(on air)5870 against a stock 470?it looks more like a 470 then an 480 in the ss.

looks around the same in this dx11 benchmark thing.....maybe tit for tat between the two in games too.its all price at this point seeing if nvdia will play ball or just not care and make it seem stupid pricewise to buy one over the 5870.

I liquid cooled, and I haven't started pushing it yet, I wanted to see how far this voltage would take me. I was running this on air before. And yep, against a 470 it is running about 10% faster. I paid $379 for mine with a Dirt2 coupon and free shipping. So unless Nvidia is planning on selling their 470 at $340 with a free Dirt2 and free shipping they are in a losing battle.

I use girlie pic torrents to keep my ratio up for faster downloads. I have probably 20,000 wallpapers stored.

Really nice looking girl , a little young but thanks! anyways , Steevo :toast:

you must be dreaming they're still selling the 285 for more than that!

Well im happy that I got a 2nd GTX 285 instead of getting a single GTX 470.

We get Douchebags that still buys them :laugh:
I guess they are also dreamers :shadedshu

Oh, man! You better start running now... :laugh:

On topic,

@Steevo

Your card is OCed a 25% and it's 10% faster than the GTX470 on the pic. That means that the stock clocked GTX470 is probably somewhere between 5-10% faster than the HD5870. Your CPU is much higher clocked too and you are comparing a mature driver set with 6+ months of optimization after release versus pre-release drivers... How can you try to draw any conclusions? :laugh:

@Price

GTX480 $450

That's due to the general shortage of GPUs. I saw them selling for $275 in the past (lower with rebates), and they should be lower than that under normal conditions. Just like GTX260 is selling for almost $200 now, but 6 months ago they were selling as low as $140. Just like the HD5870 could be bought for $375 at launch (very first batch) and now there's none below $420 on Newegg.

Also the GTX4xx series are far cheaper to produce than GTX2xx series, despite all the crap that you might have heard. That means that GTX480 costs less than GTX285 to produce, so it could essentially release for the same price and have better margins (of course it won't because they want to recover R&D, but a $600 price tag is not necessary at all). What I just said is not 100% true at the moment, but it will soon become 100% true right after launch due to higher volumes, and prices are chosen based on how much it will cost to produce when the card has been released, not on pre-release costs.

ummm, isn't 450 euros like 600 dollars US

The 470 looks like a nice card. I hope its $300-$330

Sadly, if the $450/450 euro price is true, I think it's going to be in the $350-375 range. Purely based on the fact they called it GTX470 instead of 460. I think they are going to be closer than GTX2xx cards were. It could be me looking too much into the naming though, I admit that.

For a couple nights with that girl I would put my computer away forever. Heck, put a picture of her on a Fermi and I'll buy it for crazy prices. Kristin Kreuk is my future wife, she just doesn't know it yet. I have some stalking to do now...

GTX480 = $650 retail. Prices will most likely be higher due to lack of supply and obviously demand will be there for a new Nvidia product. GTX470 = $450-$500.
