Knew I'd find this thread again..
You have done a great job with it Fit.
A very long running and true to it's word thread.

And now, I ask of you, a favor as well.. :p
Your mission, should you choose to accept it.
Is to find the best deal possible on windows 7..

See if you can find one better than me. lol..
Because I'm already looking.
I want DX11 already, I'm missing out on some great games. XD
Hopefully I can put it on both my pc's.

Just need a home version I suppose.
For gaming/movies and 3-d editing.
Using XP, but hopefully I can get a full install version of 7.
If I get an upgrade version wouldn't I have to have xp installed on my pc before I could use it?
I do, but what if I had to reformat, as is customary.
would i have to reinstall xp then upgrade to 7 again? lol..

If you've already done this, then my apologies..
It's hard as hell scrolling through 141 pages..lol

Thank ya. :D

If you're going to use more than 1 copy, or need Office as well, get a TechNet account. Check my sig for more info.

Thank you DD.

Edit; Not sure I understand technet just yet.
Trying to figure out it's purpose..lol
Looking into it now on their site.
A lot of info. XD

300 bucks for a subscription vs 100 bucks for win 7?
I don't get it.
Just want some nice, cheap windows..lol

Pm'd you, I must not be understanding something.

You get 10 keys per version plus access to all their software. I did the same thing, well worth it for all the software and keys. I have so many extra keys it is ridiculous. :D

I don't get it...lol...
Wait, maybe I do.
So I could get one cd of 7.
Then have as many keys as I want.
To install it legally on as many machines as i want?
That would cost me 240ish dollars US.

Or I could buy 2 win 7 cd's with 2 keys, for under 200 bucks and reinstall them as many times as i need to?

So whats the use of the keys?
I can give away win 7 a bunch of times?

The keys are for personal use only according to Microsoft. It's basically for people with a bunch of test machines. But you know how it goes.......;) And that 240 is for a Year subscription, not for life I believe.

If you have several machines then it can be worth it. Keep in mind it is suppose to be for researching Windows products and learning about them.

Now with that being said, if you take the cost of your 2 x copies of W7, and 2 x copies of Office, you are already ahead of the curve.

Lol.. well said.
I don't need office either though.
I don't think the tech net thing would be the way to go for me.
Especially if I have to pay yearly.

I just want the simple OS, install and ready to go package lol..
Great deal though for those it applies to and have need of it.

I'll keep it in mind for the future should the need arise. :)

How 'bout a half-decent surround-sound receiver for <=$50 shipped? With the remote?

Seems like nobody on ebay is capable of keeping track of their remotes, taking pics, or providing relevant information about what they're selling.

run Linux I recommend Ubuntu 10.04 which releases April 29. Ubuntu 9.10 or SuSe 10.3 or Fedora 12 are awesome as well and FREE.
They also come with OpenOffice
