Provided you already have decent psu, mobo and ram then the choices are:

-HD5970 not including a CPU

or

-GTX480 and choice of Phenom II 965 or I5 660/I7 750

Interesting reading the comments tho.

Yeah. I just posted on it too, as "Michael"
People across all forums, even nVidia's facebook pages are really annoying me. Everyone seems to be a fanboi for either team. Its ridiculous and pathetic.

lol

its actually pretty true there are alot of reviewers that are saying that the 480 gets hot enough to burn you even if you just tap it, including the admin here,

http://img.techpowerup.org/100329/thermi.jpg

at least you can eat while you play now:nutkick:

can you imagine when the heatsink gets dirty though . . . . . .

Still lol'ing on the pic.

I got used to NV : since 3Dfx lost the battle way back in 1999 - 2000, i am with this firm's cards, but never being a fanboy, just lazy to change what i got used to. :) As for the mood that currently occupies this thread (more than "just" hostile) i have to say this : as some of you said it would definitelly be insane to buy this card currently & especially in April 14th (since it's the day when cards will hit the shelves, i think), but better wait for custom cooled solution. I think eVga already doing the works behind the dual fans solution for both 480 & 470.

Still can't get hold of myself from lol'ing my guts out cause of that pic.

Fudzilla just posted an article that one of 2 TSMC's wafer conveyor control arms are not operational from this morning , which halts the production of nvidia's fermi cores by 50% for now , due to heavy storm at night that knocked out not only electricity but also damaged the fabs circuricity for this part of the fab because of a falling power line pole. haha , like lol , couldn't have been worse time for nvidia , bad luck.

I saw Fudzilla's article too and it did say just that. However, it might have been an April Fool, because I can't see it now. Regardless, the poster shouldn't have made his post without linking directly to the article.

Reaching your left retina.
The 500 series will probably be reserved for OEM parts, just like the 100 and 300 series. The next high-end chip will not come until 28nm process is available and working properly and apparently that will not be until 2011.

A G92-like chip with reduced ROP/BW but increased FLOP/Texturing could be on its way for a Q4 2010 release though and depending on how it performs and how AMD decides to name their next chip (i.e if they pull out a HD3000 series again), that Nvidia card could end up being GTX500 or GTX600 series.

A 256 bit card with greater performance is more than posible considering that GTX4xx is using very slow memory at around 3600 Mhz (memory bandwidth is similar to HD5870). At 4800 Mhz or even using the 7 Ghz chips that should be available for then, Nvidia wouldn't have any problems in that respect.

Normally we don't have to use our brains for what nvidia or ati will do, but what nvidia did this time makes us to use all the brain to understand what the hell happened to the king?

Ehehe , the time zones makes for the delay in april fools , that's probably the case... So I get the full blow of tricks on April 2. Atleast stuff from us.

btw , about my nick , read it as "snayper" , it would be more undertandable to a lot of you ...
