6 months isn't time? Give me all your money for 6 months I will tell you your investment hasn't had time to mature, give it more time.

fanboi

Calling Fit a Nvidia fanboy is funny. He held onto two 3870X2's for a while when 9800Gx2 tore ATi a new asshole.

So if anything call him an ATi fanboi like you. But that wouldn't have the same shock value would it. ;)

Fit isn't really a fanboi though. He tries to be an objectivist due to the fact he is obsessed with whatever is the highest performance and trying out all the new tech. I like to try out all the new tech too but I don't have as deep of pockets. Or perhaps I am too busy having my money consumed by other pursuits. Regardless you can call him what you want but "Nvidia fanboi", he definately is not.

This is an "important" review, it should of been done right.

I've only read up to page 8 of this thread, and already you're wreckin' my head.
The review was done right.

And if for whatever stupid reason you think it wasnt, in your deluded little world, convince yourself that if you want something done right, do the fxcking review yourself.

Review was perfect. End of. Everyone stop whinging or im gonna have to release my ginger ninja's on y'all bitches. :banghead:

All i can say is im not impressed and havent liked nvidia for years but thats only down to how much there cards costed, in my own test my old ati x1650 pro beat anything nvidia had to offer in the same kind of price range, infact i personly found nvidia card costing around £20 more and had less performance.

Nvidia have a lot to do before i will ever buy one again, and the one good thing i like with ATI is they have cards for all kinds of people, from the low end to the top of the range and at good prices.

Good luck to you nvidia but i will not buy anything you offer for a long time.

P.S good review even if it was with old drivers, << and another thing not everyone gets the improvments with newer drivers so i think it was a fair review personly, ok im out and have no more to say on this got better things to do.

First time poster, long time reader...

seriously felt like i needed to make this post.... this is by far my favorite HW site on the interwebs.

hearing the way people allways complain, I can understand w1zzard's feeling about this.

W1zz does a great job. every single time. think about it for once, if you had spent the better part of a week writing a review, just to see ppl bashing it. not fair guys !

maybe W1zz has other things to do than pleasing an unpleaseable crowd of whiners.

perhaps he has an education to look after...

seriously, how much do you pay for these reviews ?

W1zz plz don't give up... I have found your reviews is 95% of the time the most accurate on the web.

love from here mate
I second this (or third, or fourth, depending on how many other people have quoted it). I visit the site multiple times every day hoping for more content from the great staff here and love reading the video card reviews in particular. If you are indeed leaving W1zzard, you better make damn sure that whoever replaces you continues to do the performance summary charts!

Funny, looking at his specs reveals something else... I hope those are not real?

As to what Fit said earlier about drivers, it has no relevance right now how optimized some drivers are and how others aren't. Not fair? Save it for the poster boy! Right now, a buyer has the choice to get for this amount of money one card or the other, one with and the other without optimized drivers. FWIW, Nvidia might not even bother to optimize this failed Fermi series and would better push everything it has for a better Fermi II. Think of it like Vista vs 7. You think MS will give a damn about Vista... they will push the "you could upgrade to 7 for x.99" line and people will have to comply or suffer lower support, if any.

Besides, they had A2 lower clock silicon since December of January... not optimized? What about their own Heaven 1.1 benchmark which people couldn't even download? IDK, but I smell optimizations here.

What was shown in W1zz's review is that even against an unoptimized Cypress, Fermi does a poor job for its position in the market... and the need of the masses to see the comparisons with the latest drivers could have been anticipated. It's only fair that right now, this is the exact performance that anyone could get from current hardware.

Wonder if what Fit said will hold true when Southern/Northen Islands come out? Current beta drivers for Fermi vs the then to be release drivers that support the islands will make it for a fair review. And we could continue this till it never ends...

The review is comprehensive with lots of tests and the performance summary are something quite useful as gvblake22 also seems to like them, but it's also a... sad/dumb way, no words for this... to see it end.

One thing's for sure, no one can please everyone, never mind rabid fanboys, no matter how much work is put into it... that's why ignorance is bliss.

Wow . . .

Those are drastic differences.

I wonder, though, if those results are legit, and not fudged by "lab environment" testing .
Just my musings . . .

water averages a 40-50% reduction in load temps on GPU.

Its not fudge, thats just how powerful a well built water setup does.

so why they bitching? because they probably havent ever owned a card that runs hotter than 65c on air.

Am i allowed to bitch then since i dont fit in both of your statistics? :nutkick:

I bet watercooled/overclocked 480's are going to slam if those temps really stay down that low.

I'm still simply shocked by it - I've never even had the urge to look into HOH cooling for any of my GPU setups . . . mostly due to the fact that my rig has simply gotten out of control, and don't have the space for it - and two, that I upgrade my GPUs so often I can't justify the expense when GPU cooler are not always "universal" . . . especially for hardware that is yet to be released.

Still, though, for any of the green camp brands to already have a HOH cooler ready for release . . . that kinda hints at the possibility that the whole green camp knew these cards were going to be nuclear. Usually there's a good 2-3 month stint between intial release, and the brands releasing "performance cooled" cards.

Nah. Evga and BFG have been doing factory h2o cards for years now.

And buy/build a tech station, and watercool everything. It's how I run 2 loops.

Oh, I know there've been some brands with factory HOH coolers - I'm just not used to seeing them so soon after a card's release.

Regarding the rig - I've been giving thought to building a tech station this last month . . . possibly something that can support/contain 2-3 systems . . . I really need to draw up some plans.

That’s an understatement, your rig is a disaster, one which I wish I had :D

Thanks. Although, I swear sometimes that hardware just spawns within my rig. It's not unusual for me to be fiddling around with things and say "WTF did I buy this?!"

I can't wait to see the reviews and overclocked performance of the watercooled editions. For now this is probably the most cussed and discussed review on TPU. I say leave it.

GTX480s will replace my HD5970:)

You have to try it to be able to give an opinion right?:D

If it turned out to be a flame thrower then stuck it with water block

I would still like to know the power consumption while overclocked. I think you should add that to every review.
