Elitegroup Computer Systems, Inc.(ECS), today announced the new PN2 SLI2+ Extreme motherboard based on the latest NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI media and communication processor (MCP). Designed for the Intel Core 2 platform, PN2 SLI2 Extreme tops every enthusiast's wish list with support for processors with blazing fast 1333GHz Front Side Bus (FSB), DDR2-1200 and precise overclocking control that unleashes the full potential of hardware components. The PN2 SLI2+ Extreme is the first Intel-based platform to adopt the highly responsive NVIDIA nForce 680i MCP and is the only Intel platform with true 2 x16 graphics support and a third PCI Express x16 slot for physics to enhance 3D game performance and vivid images.

Full-Throttle Performance for Graphic-intensive Games and a Demanding Usage Model
Designed for computing-intensive and torturous gaming and graphics applications, the PN2 SLI2+ Extreme comes complete with performance tweaking tools that allows stretching the FSB and memory speeds way beyond their standard ratings. This headroom boosts overall platform performance that makes the PN2 SLI2+ Extreme the new benchmark for gaming platforms.

The PN2 SLI2+ Extreme is equipped with NVIDIA LinkBoost technology to facilitate faster CPU-memory interfacing, and a host of network-enhancing innovations that include NVIDIA FirstPacket and NVIDIA DualNet technologies. These advancements provide the highest network throughput with the lowest CPU utilization, reduce total cost of ownership, and set the stage for faster and more stable online gaming, networking, and VoIP sessions.

Extended Display Scalability and Expandability
Meeting the sophisticated demands of gamers and enthusiasts, the PN2 SLI2+ Extreme comes with three PCI Express x16 slots-two of which support the multi-GPU SLI technology with true x16 bandwidths to promote convenient display expansion using SLI-certified graphics cards. The extra PCIe x16 slot can accommodate a physics processing card for display realism, a third graphics card for additional displays, or any additional PCIe x16 card. Deployed with the latest GeForce 8800GTX/GTS graphics card, the PN2 SLI2+ Extreme motherboard will deliver the ultimate visual experience with highly-detailed graphics and real-life clarity. With complete I/O connectivity and modern storage interfaces, the PN2 SLI2+ Extreme is truly a "must-have" platform.

I am a fanboy of ecs... they are often cheaper than other bigger name motherboards and I have had success with using them. I plan on building a new rig with a ecs and a core 2 duo myself within the next year or so.
