Any third party BRD movie players stand out above the rest? I'm about to pick up a drive and have been wondering since many of them don't come with software. If the bundled stuff works well enough I may wait a couple weeks for the release of this drive.

mine came bundled with powerDVD10, which works fine.

blu ray itself is clumsy on PC (you cant use a mouse for the menu features, need an on screen remote) and other crap like that, but thats the standards fault, not the software.

My boss's PC has a 60x CD drive. I remember for a long time it was 52x max. Now you never find over 48x.

because over 48x they sounded like jet engines and had higher failure rates (Disks would warp out of shape, shatter, etc)


sooner or later they hit a limit and just stop pushing for faster speed, and go for other things instead (lightscribe, DVD, etc)
