How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

I just use uninstall for an nvidia driver I want to up or downgrade. Then slipatch won't be bothered. And yes, I've tested all drivers above 257.21, and the 258+ drivers will NOT work under any version os. Period.

they are a little less stable, than the 257 drivers, but for me, they run fairly good,otherwise

Shame about this really with the newer drivers, have put my Crosshair III up for sale and its been replaced by the M4N98TD EVO just so i could use my GTX460s

At the beginning I'm sorry about my english - I'm from Poland.
Let's go to the point of this post. I'v got:

Intel E8400 @ 4,25Ghz
Asus P5Q-Pro with mBios but now I downgraded it to 1611
Corsair Twin2X DDR2 2x 2GB 1066 MHz CL5-5-5-15 DHX Technology
1x Gainward GTX 280 drivers: 258.96
Corsair 750W
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bits

I'v downloaded Windows 7 32bit SLI Patch, version 0.7a and installed and after restart there was Windows 7 SLI Enabled. First boot and OS found out some new hardware and install drivers.

My friend gave me his GTX 280 but... f*** GTX don't work - led is green, fan is on his max speed. I'v tested it on primary PCI-E and card seems to be dead :/ He says it was working before he gave it to me ...

Later I'v tested secondary PCI-E and it's working - GTX 280 and 8400 gs only for test that PCI-E is ok.

Ok getting back to my problem... but is there any problem? -> Everest shows SLIC not present, I don't know thats wrong or it has got its roots in that I'v got only one card. Help me

Maybe I will return to drivers 257.21_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_international_whql hm? After intalling SLI patch I don't reinstall the graphic drivers and motherboard but I'v downgraded BIOS

I done reinstall graphic drivers to 257.21 and there still is not presend SLIC in Everest

I found another way to enable SLI without SLI_patch.

It takes only 2 steps:

1. Install Asus certificate with SLIStringInstaller 1.81 application, then restart the system.
2. Install HALmod 0.9 file running "install" application, then restart the system and enable SLI.

I haven't tried it beacuse don't have 2 cards but i'd like to, also I asked them and they said it work prefectly but is highly recomended to do it with a fresh OS installation.

Right now, slipatch is not working on drivers past 257.21. I'm using the slipatch 0.8 under both XP64 and Win7 64. Everest does not show the slic entry with the newer patches, that's normal, it's still there.

So Everest don't show it but certificate is there? So this is good news cause I bought Leadtek GTX 280 with 2,5 year guaranty remaining :] and ASUS tripple SLI bridge

It has been a while since i posted. I haven't seen much progress but i would like to let you know there are new drivers from ocn. I haven't tried them yet but i will do so in the next few days. This migt be my last testing rig before i move on to an intel setup.

I belive I got sli working on 158 drivers+ on my ep45-ud3p like 9 months ago.

Before there was anything automatic.

Had to dos, Certify files, use the ngo file signer, boot in safe mode, and i had 260's in sli. after manually inserting nvlxxxx.dll files, and displacing the original, putting a 2 on it

It took me a week of deprevation from the prons, and life itself, but i got it working, fully stable.!

Now i have a 470 that performs better then the 260's i had in sli some how

Need any testing, I might get another 470, pull sli AGAIN, on the p45

I have bought second GTX 280 and... SLI enabled, GPU-Z says 2 gpu enable but... for example 3dmark 2006 score is like one GTX 280 - 19 000 ptk :/ what's the matter? I don't have SLI bridge

3dmark06 is heavily influenced with your cpu score, if you havent changed cpu then you wont see much differance in score,

for instance my GTX260 gave me 16000, my 2 x 470 (SLI) gimme 17000, as i havent changed my cpu, there is no real change in score.

just for referance 100MHZ speed incrase in CPU with give you around 200 points in 3dmark

looks we got lift off with the 260.52 drivers

complete fresh instal Win 7 X64 (updates to 13 september)

status:
no benches of yet, thought i would share the news first, benches to come

edit 1: just tried uniengine bench, got black screen half way through, also got a black screen on reboot in 2d mods, not convinced this is driver issue, tweaking windows to see

edit 2: managed full run of uniengine, was saving score and got grey screen, i suspect my SLI bridge is playing up, gave it a wiggle and will run bench again

edit 3: looks like were getting stable, screeny below, no major performance increase with 260 drivers but it seems to work, moving on to some other benches, will report back later

edit 4: another grey screen soon after uni bench, seems odd. going to play detective back later
